A/N This chapter is dedicated to........ BlackWidow3000 !
I got to my house and walked inside to face mom, who was standing by the front door. I was kind of surprised to see her smirking rather than having an angry face. "Hi mom," I said.
"So, Sarah," she started, "Who really is this Brian kid?"
"He's not my boyfriend," I said, sensing her vibe, "He is literally somebody we met at the restaurant who said he wanted to help us find Kayla."
"Do you like him?" Mom asked.
"That is not important information," I answered.
"But do you like him?" Mom asked again.
"Maybe," I replied.
"Maybe is not a valid answer," mom stated.
"Maybe can be a valid answer if I want it to be," I replied.(A/N I'm sorry, I just had to add that comeback......I've actually used it before😂) I walked to the living room and flopped down on the couch. "Also, Lilith is coming over for a sleepover later," I said.
"Honey, it's already like three, she's probably coming in like, an hour," mom replied.
"True," I smiled. I leaned back into the couch and turned on the TV to some cooking show. Then my phone buzzed. I hoped that it was Kayla texting something other than "Almost Home", but I was wrong. It was Grey texting me. I went to messages and looked at what he texted. "Baby, I'm sorry about what happened. I want to get back together with you. I still love you." I groaned and quickly replied. "It's a little too late for that, don't you think?" I also added a little annoyed emoji face. Soon, another message popped up from him. "Did you meet somebody else?" I sighed. I didn't know really what to say. I guess I did sort of meet somebody else, but I'm not dating him. I decided to just say, "Yes."
"Who is it?" He asked. I really didn't want to tell him. I mean, it's not his business in the first place!
"None of your business." I typed. I thought that was a good comeback, so I pressed send. I decided that was a good place to stop texting, so I turned off my phone and set it on the coffee table. I sighed and watched the cooking show for a little while. Then Lilith knocked on the door. I stood up and walked over to the door and opened it. "Hi Lilith," I greeted.
"Hi!" She said happily, stepping inside. I closed the door behind her and we both headed off to my room. She plopped her stuff on the ground and I quickly closed the door behind me. I turned around to see Lilith had taken the usual spot on my bed, so I sat next to her, as usual. "So, what do you have to tell me that is emergency sleepover worthy?" She asked with a smile.
"Well, actually the thing that I have to tell you just got more urgent for me to tell you, so I'll start with part one," I said.
"Part one is always a good place to start," Lilith stated.
"So, did you tell that Brian has a crush on me?" I asked.
"It's obvious!" Lilith exclaimed, "I mean, he literally stares at you, I've seen him try flirting with you."
"Anyway, I might have a crush on him too, but I don't think I do," I replied.
"Hmmm," Lilith said, "You probably have a crush on him, just the logic in your mind doesn't make sense of that you barely know him, but you like him, but let me just say. Love defies logic."
"You always say exactly what I'm thinking," I smiled.
"That's what best friends are for," Lilith replied.
"Anyway, so you know how I said I saw Brian in a dream?" I said.
"Yes," she replied.
"Well, I was running from him in the dream, then tripped on a root, then realized I didn't have to run from him. I think it might be a metaphor for me not really wanting to like him because of logic, then, overcoming that and having a sort of crush on him, and lastly, truly falling for him and realizing I should have just let all the feelings flow in," I said.
"Wow," she replied.
"And I think I might already be at the tripping on the root part," I said.
"I think so too," she replied.
"But another thing is, when I tripped on the root, I fell into a bunch of thorns. I'm not sure exactly what that means," I said.
"Has anything bad happened or will happen?" Lilith asked.
"Oh yes!" I exclaimed, "Part two is the thorns."
"What's part two?" She asked.
"I'm getting to that," I said, "Anyway, when I was waiting for you, I got a text."
"Wow, what a strange happening! Sarah got a text," Lilith joked.
"Haha, very funny," I smiled, "That text was from Grey."
"Ewwww," Lilith recoiled in disgust.
"Exactly," I stated, "Anyway, he was saying he wants to get back together because he still loves me. I replied with 'It's a little too late for that' and he responded with 'Did you meet somebody else'. Of course, I quickly responded 'Yes', thinking of Brian. He asked who it was and I said none of your business. Then I turned off my phone. I did hear it beep a couple of times and saw it was him texting me again, but I didn't text him after that."
"I would say that's the thorns," Lilith said, "Which means you're almost head over heels for Brian! I ship you two so much, I mean, Sarian forever!"
"Did you just say you ship me and Brian?" I asked.
"Grammar check."
"Fine. Did you say you ship Brian and I?" I corrected.
"Good," she responded, "And yes I did."
"Geez," I smiled.
"Whatever," Lilith replied, "Hey, do you want to go grab your phone and see what Grey texted and maybe text Brian?"
"Fine," I smiled. I walked out from the living room and picked up my phone. I then headed back to my room, making sure the door was shut behind me. I sat down on the couch next to Lilith. I opened up messages and read quickly through what Grey had texted.
"Okay, now read it," Lilith instructed.
"Ok," I said, "'That's always your answer.' Then, 'Sarah, answer me with his name!' After that, 'Fine, don't text me back, see if I care.' Then, of course, 'Okay, maybe I do care. Text me back!' And that's the last of them."
"Never text him again," Lilith said, "Now text Brian saying, 'Hi Brian! This is Sarah.' Make sure to add the 'This is Sarah' part, unless you've texted him before, because we don't want him to think that you're not you and some crazy stalker."
"True," I smiled. I quickly typed in what Sarah wanted me to say and pressed send. My phone dinged when it sent and the little 'delivered' popped up under the text. Quickly, he texted back. "He texted back!" I exclaimed.
"Oh, what did he say?" Lilith asked.
"He said, 'Hey Sarah! What's up?'" I answered.
"Well, text him what you're doing, then ask him what he's doing," Lilith said.
I typed in, 'I'm at a sleepover with Lilith, what about you?' I pressed send and waited for his reply. He quickly did.
"He said 'Sound fun. I'm at my house watching Disney movies and eating popcorn.'" I told Lilith.
"Now say that you have to go eat dinner. I'm hungry," Lilith laughed.
"Okay," I responded. I sent that message to him and I turned off my phone. Lilith and I went into the kitchen and made some nachos and started watching some TV. And that's how it went until the next day when Lilith went home. A fun and simple sleepover. Perfect.
