The following story was inspired by idealistic theories such as Plato's allegory of the cave, in which the perception of a cave's prisoners is limited to seeing shadows on a wall. They neither know the original figures being moved behind them nor the source of light throwing the shadows.
This parable is refering to a world beyond the one being perceived by our senses - a higher, spiritual and eternal level of ideas that shapes the material world - and the necessity to free oneself from this prison.
The main character of my story is about to discover that immortality, divinity and perfect love can only be found beyond the material world yet he has to learn, like his teacher before, that this way of liberation has to be free from greed too.
"To need nothing is divine, and the less a man needs the nearer does he approach to divinity."
- Socrates (Plato's teacher)
