Y/N'S POV
I was up all night, trying to think of the perfect thing to say to Maverick, just as a goodbye, and I think I found the perfect speech. Mattheo isn't coming, to this. I think watching him die broke him, more than I thought. I wore my favourite black dress, with the shoes I got when I was shopping with him once.
I paired it with a high ponytail and a white ribbon, to symbolise his journey to the afterlife.
"Bye Mattheo" I say leaving.

"Y/n..." Mrs Rosewood says hugging me.
"I'm so sorry for your loss Mrs"
"It's fine Maverick would be okay, he knew what was happening and I believe that he had a good reason" she said softly.
"But, Y/n. I would like you to do a speech, for him" she said kindly.
"I would love too" I say trying to get the words out of my mouth as I take a seat.
"Hey Y/n" Everleigh says while sitting.
"Hey Everleigh, you doing a speech?" I ask.
"Yeah, it's pretty short. I just don't know what to say to him, there too much" she says her voice breaking.
"It's going to be okay, Mav wanted me to say goodbye to you. He's looking over you trust me." I say.
"I would like to welcome, Maverick's little sister Everleigh for her speech" the ministers word echoing around the place.
"Hi, I'm Everleigh" she says chuckling. "Well, Maverick's always been there for me, probably more than my parents but I would like to be honest here- life without Maverick has been the hardest thing ever. I still can't look into his room without crying, it's hard to imagine him not there. But- my favourite thing about Mav was the fact that he was there for everyone, even people he didn't know. The last time I saw Mav, he was leaving for Hogwarts, I didn't tell him this but I was really mad at him for such a stupid reason but I thought he would come back. But we'll miss you Mav and save a spot for you at everything. I love you" she ends tears dwelling in her eyes. Slow claps happen as she sits down. I'm next.
"I would now like to welcome Mavericks best friend Y/n to give her speech"
I quickly walk up to the stage, feeling Maverick's friends and family watching me. The caskets sitting on the side of the microphone with sunflowers sitting on top. I've got a gift to place there at the end.
"When I first met Maverick" I take a deep breath. "I was going through a pretty rough time, I was forced to marry a guy who was rude to me for a long time. I wanted to die. But Maverick helped me out of it, he made many promises. Which I am going to keep, I'll have him at my wedding and I'll find a way to honour him anytime I can. You all didn't know this- but I-I was there when he passed. I watched the best person I had ever met passed in front of my eyes. I told him that I would see him later and he agreed back. He told me to protect his family and he'll be watching me from afar. Maverick was full of passion, love, care and most importantly he had care for his family. He had everything that everyone would only die to have. Mav was a Gryffindor, with the care for his family and bravery, a Slytherin with the ambition to do whatever he likes, he was smart like a Ravenclaw and had the care of a Hufflepuff. He wasn't anything else, but he was the whole of Hogwarts and without him, it's all empty.
As we say goodbye, I would like us to remember the lessons he taught us the love he gave us, and the way he made us all feel—these things will stay with us, forever woven into the fabric of who we are.
So Maverick, thank you, for everything" my voice breaks. "Though I can't imagine my life without you, I wish I could be in your place. Goodbye my friend, you may be gone but your forever in our hearts." I say taking a step away from the microphone and leaving a letter on top of his coffin.
Hey Rosie,
I can't believe I'm writing this. Honestly I still don't truly see you as gone. I hope you are reading this with death. Or you can be by yourself. You know death is not a bad thing. It's something we know is always going to happen, even when we least expect it. Everyone is forced to face it once, in their life. Or twice if your lucky. It feels strange to write to you not knowing if you are going to read it. It feels like your out of reach, not far like your close to me but I can't see you. Thank you for being part of my life. You taught me so much, showed me how to live with courage and love, and reminded me of what truly matters. Even though you're gone, I feel like you're still with me in some way, guiding me and reminding me to keep going. I hope your free and at peace with this. I'll take care of Everleigh and your grandma and your parents.
Until we meet again Rosewood
