Yunjin's POV
As we made our way to the restaurant, I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nerves. My parents were on either side of me—Mom, giving me her full attention, and Dad, half-listening as he worked through emails on his phone.
"Promise, Mom, you're going to love her," I said, trying to keep the anticipation out of my voice. "She's charming, down-to-earth, and... really special."
Mom smiled at me warmly, placing a reassuring hand on mine. "I trust you, Jen. You've always had a good eye for people, and I can see how happy she makes you. That's all I need to know."
I couldn't help but hug her, feeling an overwhelming sense of gratitude for her support. Knowing she was on my side made all the difference.
As for Dad, he barely looked up from his phone, still caught up in the world of business.
I glanced over at him, wondering if he'd ever fully understand how much Y/N meant to me—or if he even cared enough to try. But for now, I had Mom's approval, and that was enough to keep my spirits up.
As we made our way to the table, my eyes locked onto her from across the room. She looked absolutely stunning—nervous, maybe, but with that undeniable confidence I'd fallen for.
The closer we got, the clearer I could see how much effort she'd put into tonight, and I couldn't help but feel proud.
When she noticed us, she offered a small, warm smile, giving a respectful bow as we reached her. My parents mirrored her gesture, clearly impressed by her presence. I could tell my mom was already warming to her, a spark of approval in her eyes.
As we settled in, a waiter arrived, handing beautifully wrapped gifts to each of my parents. Y/N explained softly that they were her way of saying thank you for meeting her tonight. The thoughtfulness of it all caught them off guard, and I could see how touched my mom looked.
Then, with a shy smile, Y/N turned to me, pulling out a smaller box she'd kept aside. It was wrapped with care, a personal touch just for me. I took it, trying to hide the excitement and met her gaze.
This wasn't just a dinner... she'd thought of everything. Her small gestures—every little detail reminding me why I'd fallen so hard for her.
Y/N glanced at the menu briefly before turning to us with a polite smile. "I hope you don't mind—I went ahead and ordered some wagyu steak and lobster risotto for the table. Yunjin mentioned they're your favorites, and I thought they'd go perfectly with a bottle of Château Margaux 2005. But if there's anything you'd prefer, please let me know, and I'll have them adjust it."
My dad raised an eyebrow, clearly impressed. "Château Margaux? That's a refined choice. Did you grow up in a household that appreciates fine wine?"
Y/N smiled, nodding. "A little, yes. My dad's passionate about wine—he always said learning about it was essential for a well-rounded education."
My dad's expression softened slightly, his usual stoic look giving way to a hint of approval.
My mom joined in with a warm smile. "You have good taste, Y/N. I think the wine and the food choices are perfect."
Y/N relaxed visibly, and as she glanced my way, I gave her a reassuring smile.
Under the table, her hand found mine, and I squeezed it gently, knowing she needed that little bit of reassurance.
Just as the conversation felt like it was settling, my dad turned his attention back to her, his tone curious but still with a hint of challenge.
"So, Y/N," my dad began, his tone a bit serious, "You know our Yunjin is deeply focused on her career, right? Given the circumstances, how do you plan to handle a relationship with her in the long term? With her career, she can't publicly be open about your relationship for a long time, especially since you're both women. You'll have to stay a secret for quite a while. How do you intend to manage that?"
