It was the day after Storm Agatha had hit Kildare Island, the skies clearing over the whole of the Outer Banks as it passed through, leaving destruction behind on its way out.

With all that destruction is what led to right now where two best friends Sarah Cameron and Love Thornton were out in the back garden of Tannyhill protecting the vulnerable mice who'd lost their burrows from the storm.

"I'm tired of this, Sarah", Love huffed in exhaustion to her friend, her body feeling achey all over while Sarah was still skipping about.

Breathing heavily Love shooed one more bird away before she decided that she'd reached her limit for the day as she discarded her racket by dropping it to the ground before she herself followed after it as her whole body dropped down onto the grass next to it.

Laughing at the sight of her friend sprawled out under the sun Sarah continued to prance around the garden. "C'mon, we haven't been doing this for that long", she argued with Love.

"We've been at this all day", Love argued with her friend through a whine, having pushed her body strength to its limits for the day.

"How would you feel if a storm blew over your little burrow and now birds are trying to peck at you with no one coming to protect you?", Sarah asked her friend as she stopped in front of Love, casting her shadow over the girl.

"I would prefer to protect them by gathering them into a little box and bringing them inside instead of descending into this", Love gestured around to the racket in both of their hands as she told Sarah her idea.

"Ew, no", Sarah cringed at Love idea of bringing mice into the house.

Her reaction made Love scoff at the fact that Sarah would prefer to run around hitting birds all day instead of letting the mice into a box that could be left in the corner of the garage.

"No, no, no, no!", Sarah then yelled as she went back into action running around with her racket held high as she saw a bird coming down toward the ground, bashing it away.

"Sarah?", a male voice rang out in question for the girl, the voice coming from Sarah's dad Ward Cameron who was approaching the two girls with a questioning look.

"I'm busy!", Sarah called back through a grunt as she hit another bird with her racket.

"Love?", Ward questioned through a short chuckle as he saw the blonde laying flat on her back on the middle of his lawn seeming absolutely done.

"Hey Mr Cameron", Love loosely waved her hand up from where she was laying on the ground, the exhaustion in her voice telling him how much his daughter had pushed her friend to near death.

"What are you two doing?", he asked the two girls as he looked between Sarah running around with her racket on the look out while Love stayed panned out on the ground with her racket tossed somewhere beside her. "Whys Love on the ground?", he continued to question.

"I think i'm dying", is the answer Love gave him as she took in deep breaths to try and catch h her breath.

"Stop being dramatic", Sarah scoffed at her friends as she kept her eyes on the sky, glancing to her father as she said. "She's fine", waving off any concern he might have had for her friend.

"What are you doing?", he asked his daughter again, watching her chase after a bird that came close to the ground and bat it away with her racket.

Swinging her racket around Sarah yelled up to him as she ran about the lawn. "The burrows filled with water from the surge. The birds are having a field day", she explained to him what exactly she'd dragged herself and Love into for the day.
