The morning sunlight peeked through the curtains, casting soft streaks of light across Y/N’s face. She blinked awake, rubbing her eyes and taking a moment to adjust to the quietness that filled the flat.
It was a rare off day—a luxury in their world. A day with no rehearsals, interviews, or packed arenas. Just the promise of a slow, lazy day to unwind.
The faint smell of coffee brewing wafted through the air, pulling Y/N out of bed. She slipped into a pair of comfy sweats and shuffled down the hallway towards the kitchen.
As she rounded the corner, stretching her arms, she spotted Liam standing by the counter, humming softly to himself as he poured coffee into two mugs.
“Morning, Li,” Y/N greeted, her voice still raspy from sleep.
Liam turned to her with a warm smile. “Morning, sleepyhead. Coffee?”
“Absolutely,” she grinned, accepting the mug he handed her. They both leaned against the counter, sipping their drinks in comfortable silence.
“What’s the plan for today?” Y/N asked after a few moments, her eyes flickering to the stack of DVDs Liam had set on the counter.
“Honestly?” he said, shrugging lightly. “I was thinking we could just chill, watch some movies, and order takeout. No stress, no rush.”
Y/N’s eyes lit up. “That sounds perfect.”
With their coffees in hand, they moved to the living room and plopped down on the oversized couch. Liam tossed her a blanket, which she gladly wrapped around herself.
The first movie on their list was an old favorite, one they’d both watched countless times. Toy Story. It wasn’t so much about the film but the nostalgia and comfort it brought them.
As the opening credits rolled, Y/N noticed Liam seemed quieter than usual, his eyes lingering on the screen but not quite focusing. She nudged his shoulder with hers, her brows furrowing slightly.
“Something on your mind, Payne?”
Liam sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Not really. Just... been thinking a lot lately. About the future, you know? The band, where we’re all headed.” He paused, his gaze dropping to the floor. “Sometimes, it feels like everything’s moving so fast, and I just—”
“Hey,” Y/N interrupted softly, placing her hand on his arm. “I get it. It’s overwhelming, isn’t it? But you don’t have to figure it all out today.” She gave him a reassuring squeeze. “Today’s about relaxing. Let’s just be ourselves, just Liam and Y/N, not One Direction.”
Liam’s shoulders visibly relaxed at her words. He gave her a grateful smile before leaning back into the couch, letting out a deep breath. “Yeah, you’re right. I’m just in my head too much sometimes.”
“That’s what I’m here for,” she teased lightly, patting his knee. “To bring you back to Earth.”
For the next few hours, they slipped into an easy rhythm—laughing at cheesy scenes, throwing popcorn at each other, and sharing anecdotes about tour life. There were no cameras, no fans, no pressure—just two friends hanging out, enjoying a rare moment of peace.
As they lounged around, Y/N’s phone buzzed on the coffee table. She picked it up to see a flood of notifications from fans already guessing where the band members were spending their off day. An idea sparked in her mind.
