It was a bad idea; but I did it anyway. Proposing an arrangement of being enemies with a slice of benefits on a woman like Gwen would be the death of me.

Gwen's ocean blue eyes looked at me shockingly and confusingly as if she heard an unknown lyric.

"You look at me as if you haven't tried having sex." I spoke sarcastically as her lips pouted slightly yet could draw the mad face shit at the gesture.

"That's mean." She rolled her eyes, the entire phase making me realize everything straightly: Gwen's a fucking, walking virgin in the streets.

Somehow I thought Gwen fucked most the cool kids in senior year when she just turned seventeen and I caught her cheating and eventually; broke up with her nice ass.

My hand shot out again for probably the two hundredth seventy-fifth time when I came here.

"You're a virgin?" I blurted, making Gwen's eyes narrow at my face confusingly.

"That one is none of your business." She spoke in sass yet her tone was confused and probably embarrassed.

Gwen stood up and once again, monitored the machines that's been keeping Bea stable. I could tell the child was dealing some shit under her skin despite on how sweet she is.

Then, the door flung open steadily, revealing Jake's silhouette almost blocking the light on the hallway.

I gave Gwen one last glance that said, "We'll deal with this later." Before walking off the hospital room.

"So? What did you do?" Jake asked broadly once we reached the exit.

"I proposed benefit–"

"Enemies with benefits?! Xayl, are you crazy? Or out of your mind? What happens if Sheena finds out?"

Jake acted like his intestines were about to dissolve and would probably die if I wouldn't answer his damn questions.

"Sheena's leaving for France next week and will come back in two months. For now, Gwen's goin' to be my little plaything–"

"If she agrees to have benefits with you, duh. Why can't you just pick another pussy to satisfy that cock of yours? After all, Gwen is your ex anyway." Jake reprimanded me for the first time in my life after seven years of being buddies. Woo hoo, I guess?

He's right though, Mildred is my ex.

"My rules, though. If I want Gwen to be my fucktoy, then she's my fucktoy." I rolled my eyes nonchalantly before Jake glares at me in disbelief.

"Why are you even doing this anyway?" Jake blurted, his expression serious as fuck.

"Let's say, make her head over heels again and... you know, play with her feelings like she did to me in senior year." I replied.

Well, clearly, I sound like an obsessed motherfucker who doesn't want to stop making Gwen's life crumble to ruins. But when we both broke up eight years ago, I was barely even holding on to achieve my sports scholarship from all the talk shit.

"Whatever, man. But if Sheena finds out, your career is fucked." Jake reminded me one last time before hopping into my car, gesturing me to take the wheel.

"Where you goin' tonight?" Jake asked as I entered the car. Well, obviously I gotta run to the hockey arena so I could practice my ass off and not mess up the tournament.

"Practicing my strikes and records, obviously." I turned the engine on and sped off the highway, not caring if I go past the speed limit.

There's two main reasons why I'm still with this human being that keeps on asking questions everytime he sees me:

#1- Jake's my best friend.

#2- wasting six years of a friendship is portraying as a shitty friend in history.

I get annoyed easily, people can see that in me; yet I'm patient but stubborn as fuck when it comes to Jake.

"You just got discharged from the hospital, bitch. Don't be an asshole and live a little! Besides, I already told Coach Wyatt that you're needing some love and affection while you recover." Jake spat sarcastically.

Love and affection, huh? I ain't gay, nor have I needed cuddle shits.

"Not happening." I took a turn, New York's city lights visible on the rear view mirror.

Jake's smile slipped onto a frown, clenching his knuckles as if he wanted to flip me off.

"Are you even a person? You act like fun isn't acknowledged yet." He snorted, crossing his arms in disbelief.

I let out a bitter laugh, my mouth stretching on a cruel smile.

"Fun died on me when I was fifteen, so fuck off." My face turned from cotton to steel, a serious expression painting back on my face.

"Erm... why?" Jake asked again.

"My father got killed in Beijing when he was on business and got involved. Even now, the killer wasn't known."
