Delilah's POV
(outfit; polyvore.com/untitled_19/set?id=169168109 )
The loud screeching of the alarm wakes me from my peaceful sleep and I groan. "Shut uuuuup." I moan and roll over to shut off the alarm.
I hit the floor with a thud, pulling the blankets off the bed with me. "Fucking Aye." I say and sit up.
I must've been laying on the very edge of the bed. I reach up and turn the alarm off and stand up.
I gather up the blankets and toss them onto the bed, not bothering to make it up. I'll be sleeping in the car for the next four days, so there isn't really a point in making it.
Raising my arms over my head and stretching, the muscles in my back and shoulders sigh in relief as I make dying whale noises. I glance at the clock, seeing that it's noon. I slept for sixteen hours. I went to bed last night at eight because I knew I'd be up all night with Caity, and I won't want to sleep. Plus, I knew that if I slept late I wouldn't be tired until early in the morning, and coffee will save me from that.
I go to my closet and grab my outfit for the day and slowly but surely make my way to the bathroom.
After I shower, I let my hair air dry while I put on my clothes. I'm lacing up my boots when my phone starts singing to me.
I reach over and pick it up, answering it and putting it on speaker. "Hello?" I ask. "Hey." Caity says. "Hey!" I say.
"Are you dressed yet?" She asks me. "I'm lacing up my boots." I say. "Well, I'm on my way. I hope you haven't done your makeup yet, you said you'd let me play around with it when I got there." She says and I hear a car door shut in the background.
"I remember." I laugh. "Do you have your bag packed?" Caity asks me and I hear the car start. She must have me on speaker.
I put my foot on the ground and lace the other one. "Yep. Four days worth of clothes." I say. "Good, I'm so excited for this. It's been ages since we've done anything like this." She squeals. "I know! I'm so excited." I say.
"Alright, I better go before I get stuck in lunch traffic; I'll be there in ten." Caity says. "Alright, be careful." I say.
"When am I not?" She asks, faking shock. "You're such a tard." I laugh. "I know, but you love me anyways." She replies.
"I do. Now, hurry and get your butt over here." I laugh. "Yes, Ma'am!" Caity shouts before hanging up the phone.
I shake my head and toss my phone back onto the bed behind me. I finish with my boots and look in the long mirror that hangs on the door of my closet.
I have to admit, I look better than I thought I would. Caity was right; I do look better without the big ass sweaters.
Who would've known?
The front door opens about five minutes later and loudly shuts. "DELILAH!" Caity yells and I laugh.
I walk out of my room and lean on the banister, looking down at the front door. "You could just knock." I inform her with a smirk.
"I could, but I have a key." She says, her keychain dangling from her black nails. "Now," She starts. "we have about two hours before we roll out to get to the venue. I'm gonna do your makeup and then we're gonna finish that episode of Skins." She says.
"You want to watch Skins." I say. "Hell yeah, girlfriend. Now, c'mon. Let's make you look even better." She says and raises her makeup bag into the air.
Caity finished my makeup in about ten minutes, doing eyeliner, mascara and the smallest possible amount of tan eye-shadow to make my eyes pop. She also straightened my hair, as I never wear it straight.
All in all, she did a very good job. I'm very happy with the way I look, and that's a first.
Now, we're sitting on the couch watching Skins with Sebastian between us. "Now, Bassy, be a good boy while I'm gone." I say, lifting the puppy up to my face. His little brown eyes look back at me and he makes a small barking noise in reply.
I laugh and so does Caity. "Girl, you need a boyfriend." She says. "I'm not really worried about a boyfriend right now." I say.
"Not all guys are like him, you know. There are some really good ones out there." She reminds me.
"I know, I'm just... afraid to let myself fall again." I say, setting Sebastian down. "I know you are, Delilah. But think about it this way, you have to get through the storm to see the rainbow." She says. I look at her. "Hayden is your rainbow." I say. She smiles.
"That he is. You'll find your rainbow someday." Caity assures me. "I can only hope, Cait. I don't want that to happen again." I say.
"It won't, Delilah." She says. We turn our attention back to the TV and Caity suddenly yelps.
"What's the matter?!" I ask her. "TONY JUST GAVE MAXXIE A BLOWJOB!!" She screeches and I shake my head, laughing.
Caity and I have been walking around the city for about an hour now. The venue is located in Downtown Dallas, only a half hour away from my house. We took her car because Lucy is in the shop, and Caity insisted that we'd go in hers since she came up with the idea of going on a roadtrip to follow Crown The Empire across the state.
"Are you hungry?" She asks me when we come up to a cross walk at a busy stoplight. "I could eat." I nod.
"How about that café over there?" She asks, pointing to a small café on the corner. "Fine with me." I say. We wait for what feels like hours for the walking light to change. "God." Caity groans.
Cars continue to drive and turn past us, the light never changing. I tap my foot on the sidewalk, watching cars zoom and slowly creep by.
I sigh and a thought comes to my mind. "Fuck it." I say, grab Caity's hand and dash through the traffic.
Some cars stop, and some slam on the brakes, honk their horns and curse at us. Some are nice enough to stop and let us by, and I throw my hand up in appreciation.
"What was that?" Caity asks me when we reach the other side of the road. "I was tired of waiting." I say.
The old me would've kept waiting until the light changed, but I'm not her anymore. I'm the me I always wanted to be.
A free spirit with no self-doubt or negativity, with no cautious pauses before acting.
I never thought I would've dashed across busy lunch hour traffic in downtown Dallas, let alone felt an adrenaline rush from doing it.
"I'm really liking the new Delilah." She says, an impressed look on her face. "Me too. Now, c'mon, I'm starving." I say and we go inside to eat.
