It had been a week since Kimberly and Snape last spoke. Their encounter in the corridors had left her unsettled, as he seemed unusually distant. Today, however, was Hogsmeade day, and Kimberly was eager to escape the confines of Hogwarts, enjoying the break with her friends, Hermione and Ron, while Harry had chosen to spend the day with Professor Lupin.

Bundling up against the biting cold, Kimberly felt a wave of excitement as she dressed for the trip. She wore a thick, midnight-blue knit sweater that draped comfortably over a white turtleneck, paired with dark jeans tucked into waterproof ankle boots perfect for navigating the snow. A navy wool coat cinched at the waist added a touch of elegance, and her soft beige beanie kept her warm. A vibrant red scarf wrapped around her neck, contrasting with the gray of the winter day and bringing a playful flair to her outfit.

As they stepped outside, the brisk air hit her face, waking her senses. Around them, students were buzzing with excitement, their laughter carrying as they rushed toward Hogsmeade's gates.

"I can't wait to get a slice of that treacle tart from the bakery!" Ron said, rubbing his hands together in anticipation.

"Just remember to share this time, or you'll be in trouble!" Hermione teased.

"Oh, come on, Hermione. Ron's idea of sharing is taking two bites instead of three," Kimberly chimed in, rolling her eyes. "He'll just save you the crumbs."

"Hey!" Ron protested, his mock indignation making Kimberly smile. "I'll have you know I'm very generous with my crumbs!"

They made their way toward the Shrieking Shack, admiring the eerie building from a distance. The old structure, with its weathered wood and dark windows, seemed almost at odds with the fresh coat of snow that blanketed it. The scene had an otherworldly feel, the pale light of the sun casting long shadows as the place stood, silent and mysterious.

"Why are we even here?" Ron grumbled, his breath fogging in the cold air. "This place gives me the creeps."

"Just because," Hermione said lightly, her tone implying that was all the reason they needed.

"Do you think anyone's ever tried to renovate the Shrieking Shack?" Kimberly mused, glancing at her friends. "I mean, it could really use some TLC, don't you think?"

Ron snorted. "Yeah, because I'm sure the ghosts are all about home improvement. 'Oh, look at this lovely paint job!'"

"Maybe they just want a cozy living room," Kimberly teased, grinning. "Nothing says 'haunted' like a fresh coat of paint."
