A week later!
Rain lashed against the hospital windows, streaking the glass like tiny rivers.
Virat sat on the bed looking at the window and his mother sat on the couch nearby, a magazine in her hands, though her eyes often drifted to her son.
She saw the tension in his posture, the way he stared out at the rain as if searching for something—or someone.
Virat’s fingers traced the edge of the bandage, his jaw tight. Beside him, his phone lay untouched, Mahi’s unanswered calls and messages glaring at him from the screen.
His hand hovered over it for a moment before retreating, as though the act of reaching out might break him.
He clenched his fist, the crescent moons of his nails pressing into his palm, a quiet rebellion against the storm raging within.
That night lingered in his mind, not as a memory but as a shadow, stretching and twisting with every breath.
The image of Mahi, bold and unyielding, kissing him in front of everyone, burned in Virat’s memory. The intensity in Mahi’s eyes, the desperate grip, the raw emotion—it was everything Virat had ever wanted. Yet fear had gripped him, the terror of hearing Mahi deny it all the next day driving him to flee.
Virat’s heart jolted as Mahi’s name illuminated the screen. He froze, his gaze locked on the phone, his hand hesitating in mid-air. His breath caught, lips parting slightly as he wrestled with the temptation to answer.
His fingers curled into a fist, pulling back just as quickly as they had reached for the phone. "Nahi karunga aapse baat.. bilkul bhi nahi!" he whispered to himself, shaking his head.
A sigh escaped from his lips, heavy as the rain outside.
His mother noticed the tremble in his fingers. "Virat" she said softly.
"Beta! Tu theek hain?"He nodded "Haan mom am good!" he murmured, though his voice faltered.
Outside, the rain grew heavier, the sound of thunder rumbling in the distance. Virat’s gaze remained fixed on the storm, his eyes glassy with unspoken emotion.
For now, he could ignore the calls, the messages. But he knew he couldn’t ignore Mahi—not forever.

Meanwhile! miles away..
The air in the farmhouse hung heavy with tension. It was 9 a.m. but the sun was already unforgiving, streaming through the tall windows.
Mahi clenched his phone, the screen glowing with yet another unanswered message to Virat.
He’d lost count of how many times he’d tried to reach out. Each ignored call.. each unread text.. felt like a deserved punishment.
Running a hand through his disheveled hair, leaning back in his chair, he typed another text "Baby! please talk to me just once.. let me explain.. yaar. Etne din se ignore kar raha hain.. ek baar baat toh kar le yaar!"
