Colt and Beau settled into their room, the atmosphere light as they exchanged glances, both processing the earlier tension in the game room. Colt leaned against his bed and raised an eyebrow, his tone playful. "So... what exactly happened in the game room, Beau? You looked like you saw a ghost when I showed up."
Beau chuckled, scratching the back of his neck. "Well, Max and Elian were, uh... let's say, 'busy' when I got there. They didn't seem too fazed by me cleaning around them, though. Actually, they looked like they were... amused."
Colt grinned. "Yeah, sounds like them. They're definitely up to something. Those two together? Trouble."
Just as they were getting comfortable, there was a knock on the door, and Max strode in, flashing them both his trademark California-surfer smile. "Hey, Colt, need a favor. Quinn's outside, can you go find him and help him out? Shouldn't take too long."
Colt nodded, giving Beau a quick smile before he slipped out. That left Beau and Max alone in the room.
Trying to appear nonchalant, Beau grabbed his textbook and opened it, pretending to focus on his homework. But Max didn't seem in a hurry to leave, and Beau could feel his presence even before he glanced up. Max's toned physique was impossible to ignore, his skin tanned and glowing with a natural sun-kissed hue. The faint trace of abdominal hair led down past his shorts, and Beau's heart started to race.
"So, what's got you buried in a book?" Max asked, leaning over the desk with a casual confidence, his voice laced with that California warmth. He had that easygoing surfer vibe, but as they began talking, Beau discovered there was a lot more to Max than just good looks.
As they chatted, Beau found out Max was passionate about neuroscience and had big dreams of going to med school to become a brain surgeon. "Yeah, it's kind of a crazy dream," Max admitted, laughing. "But, hey, someone's got to do it. And maybe it'll be me, y'know?"
Beau chuckled, feeling more relaxed as Max continued to share stories. "Neuroscience? That's impressive. I wouldn't have guessed that at first."
Max grinned, rubbing the back of his neck. "I get that a lot. People usually just see the surfer dude, but there's a brain in here, I swear." He winked, his charm shining through. Beau couldn't help but feel captivated by him. There was something in the way Max spoke and carried himself that made Beau's knees feel weak. Beneath the laid-back vibe, he had a warmth and sincerity that Beau found hard to resist.
As they talked, Beau felt his initial nervousness melt away, replaced with a sense of calm. Max was charming, yes, but he was also surprisingly grounded. That captivating gaze he held—it was magnetic. Beau could see why everyone around him was drawn to Max, and for the first time, he felt it, too.
But then, Max moved closer to Beau, who was sitting at his desk, focused on his homework. But Max, with his usual mischievous grin, had other ideas. He placed his hands on the edge of the desk, leaning in just a little too close for comfort. Beau felt the heat of Max's presence as the space between them narrowed.
Max, sensing Beau's controlled composure, couldn't resist the temptation to tease him. He shifted slightly, subtly pressing his bulge against the side of Beau's chair. It wasn't blatant, but enough to send a ripple of electricity through the air. Max's smirk only deepened as he watched Beau's reaction, or rather, the lack of one. Beau didn't flinch. He kept his gaze steady, not letting Max get the better of him, though the temptation was clearly there.
"Come on, Beau," Max murmured, his voice low and taunting. "You're really gonna pretend you're not feeling this?" His hand casually brushed over the desk, as though adjusting something, but all the while, his body was closer, his presence undeniable.
