After getting my class schedule and locker I went to go to my first class.

"Math." I grumbled to myself, pulling my hood over my head.

The other students were still whispering to each other... about me. The new girl.

"She is new, I'm telling you..."

"Look at her jeans..."

"Is that the girl with the boyfriend?"

Omg, people are ridiculous.

I continued walking, putting my hands in my pockets.

When people started to clear the halls I picked up my pace, struggling a little bit because of my heavy backpack.

I made it to the math classroom, opening the door just as the bell rang.

Everyone was already sitting down, and the teacher was at his desk.

"Oh right, are you the new girl?" The teacher asked.

"Uh, yeah." I replied, going to the very back of the classroom and sitting in the corner.

"Come up and introduce yourself." The teacher instructed, gesturing to the space in front of his desk.

I set my bag down and walked over to the teacher.

"Tell us your name and something about yourself." The teacher said, his voice flat and bored.

I turned to the rest of the class to see them all actually paying attention to me.

"My name's Ella and I hate math." I said, walking back to my seat.

"Wonderful." The teacher said sarcastically.

A few kids laughed.

I sat down, not at all ready to endure my first math class.

(1 or 2 hours later)

Finally!
Time for lunch.
Imma bit hungry.

I was walking down the blue walled hallway heading to the cafeteria, and the 'new kid whispers' still followed me everywhere I went.

"She's new." I saw a girl point at me from the very corner of my eyes.

"Yeah I know." Someone quietly replied.

Bruh, you'd think these kids have never had a new kid at school before!

I signed, deciding not to think about the rude murmurs and to just keep walking.

Math was pretty terrible...
I have a feeling I'm gonna to fail that subject.
It just doesn't make sense!
Why do we have to learn this stuff anyways?
Everyone knows you just forget it all when you become an adult.
It's a known fact, honestly.

I entered the busy cafeteria and pulled my hood up, following a group of people to the lunch line.

I have to admit, I was nervous about whether or not I'd see... my brother, Jonathan.

I got my food and went to one of the only empty tables, hoping to be left alone with my thoughts.

I wonder if he still goes here.
Maybe he switched schools!
Or moved out of the state!
Or moved out of the country!

I frowned, questioning whether or not I would want that.

I was a little more hungry than normal, so I finished my food quickly.

Probably from skipping breakfast.
Ok, definitely from skipping breakfast.

I heard a group of boys laughing behind me and girls gossiping to each other all around the cafeteria. It was all very loud and overwhelming, causing me to pull my hood further over my head.
