The sun was high, casting a warm, golden glow over the meadow as the breeze gently rustled the leaves of the trees. Felix and you had decided to spend the day outdoors, escaping the hustle and bustle of life with a peaceful picnic. The quiet space, surrounded by colorful wildflowers and the distant sound of birds singing, was the perfect setting for just the two of you to relax.
A soft blanket lay on the grass, a basket of snacks and drinks sitting in the center. Felix had already pulled out some sandwiches, laying them out with an excited grin on his face. His usual energy and charm were dialed down today, replaced with a serene calmness that made the moment feel even more special.
"I'm so glad we did this," he said, lying back on the blanket with his arms behind his head, his eyes squinting up at the sky. "I think I needed this more than I realized."
You smiled, watching the way he looked so at peace. "Yeah, me too. The fresh air is nice."
Felix sat up suddenly, his eyes lighting up as he noticed a patch of wildflowers nearby. "Wait here, I'll be right back!" he said, already jumping to his feet before you could ask what he was doing.
He ran toward the cluster of flowers, bending down to pick a few of them. The sight made you smile, as you had a feeling you knew what he was planning. Felix had always been a little sentimental, finding joy in the little things, and making flower crowns was something he'd done before, especially when the two of you spent time together outdoors.
When he returned, his hands full of colorful wildflowers, you laughed softly. "Are you going to make a flower crown?"
He grinned, slightly bashful, but his eyes sparkled with excitement. "Of course! I think you'll look really cute in one."
You raised an eyebrow, amused by his sudden enthusiasm. "I think you're the one who's going to look cute with one."
Felix blushed at the compliment, his cheeks turning a soft shade of pink. He immediately sat back down beside you, carefully arranging the flowers into a circle. His fingers were surprisingly gentle as he wove the stems together, creating a delicate, colorful crown.
"You're going to make me wear it, aren't you?" you teased, watching him focus intently on his task.
He didn't respond right away, too absorbed in making sure the crown was just right. After a few moments, he looked up, giving you a shy smile. "Well... I was thinking it would look better on you," he said quietly. His voice had a hint of nervousness, and you could see his fingers trembling just slightly as he finished the crown.
You couldn't help but find it endearing how much effort he was putting into something so simple. The way he cared, even about small gestures like this, always melted your heart.
After a final check, he held the flower crown out toward you, his eyes never meeting yours for too long. "Okay, it's ready," he mumbled, looking like he might melt into the grass from the nervous energy he was radiating. "Do you want to try it on?"
You smiled, leaning closer. "You made it for me, didn't you?"
Felix nodded, though he still couldn't quite bring himself to look you in the eye. "Yeah... but it's kind of silly. I mean... you don't have to wear it if you don't want to."
"Oh, I want to," you said, softly. You let out a small laugh, noticing the way his blush deepened when he heard you. "You're cute when you're shy, you know that?"
He groaned, burying his face in his hands for a moment. "Stop. I'm not shy, I'm just—"
But you stopped him with a gentle hand on his shoulder, coaxing him into looking at you. His wide, soft eyes met yours, filled with a mix of bashfulness and sincerity.
"Okay, okay, you're not shy," you teased with a smile, reaching for the flower crown. "But you are cute."
Felix's cheeks flared with color at that, and he looked away quickly, but not before you saw the hint of a smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
You took the crown from his hands, carefully placing it atop your head. The wildflowers were delicate, their colors bright and cheerful, just like the way Felix had made them—putting his whole heart into the little things that mattered.
When you finally adjusted the crown, you turned to face him, and Felix's eyes went wide. He bit his lip, his face now a bright shade of pink as he looked you over, his gaze lingering just a little too long.
"Does it look okay?" you asked, almost teasing, but more curious about how he felt.
Felix blinked rapidly, unable to hide the softness in his gaze. "You... you look beautiful," he said, almost too quietly, but there was a sincerity in his voice that made your heart skip a beat.
You couldn't help but smile, your heart fluttering as you reached over and gently brushed some strands of hair from his forehead. "Thank you. But you know, you're the one who made it, so I think it's your handiwork that makes it special."
Felix looked down, his blush only deepening. "I'm glad you like it... I just... I wanted to do something nice for you."
You leaned in, placing a gentle kiss on his cheek, feeling his warmth against you. "You did more than just make a flower crown. You made my day," you whispered.
Felix's smile was the brightest thing you'd seen all day, and for a moment, everything else faded away. It was just the two of you, surrounded by flowers and the soft rustle of the wind, the peaceful stillness of the moment making it feel like time had stopped.
He rubbed the back of his neck nervously, still blushing, but there was a glimmer of happiness in his eyes. "I guess I could get used to making you smile like this," he muttered.
"Then I think you should," you said, smiling back at him.
And with that, Felix let out a quiet laugh, his nervousness melting away as the two of you shared the warmth of the moment, both feeling content and happy in the simple joy of being together.
