Love Thy Murderer

"Some say Love overpowers Fear, some say Fear overpowers Love, but in this case no one really knows"

"Make a wish!" Everyone cheered to my son Luther who has his birthday cake sat in front of him lite with candles. Luther closed his eyes and smiled then blew out his candles.

Today is Luther's twelfth birthday and I wanted him to have the best birthday party ever, since he's been really good in school and at home. Luther looks nothing like me only getting his freckles and pale skin color from me. Luther's black hair was cut short since he hated it long and his grey eyes held so much excitement that it made me smile.

Life has been hard on him when I was struggling to put food on the table and barely had clothes on our backs. His father took care of us even when I told him I could take care of myself by getting me a job.

His father wouldn't have it and refused to have the woman he loves working when he could do it himself. I thought he loved me. I thought he loved his son because he wouldn't have had himself taken from us and have us fend for ourselves when I clearly didn't have a job.

Now, I'm proud of myself. I got a job that pays more than I could ever ask for. We live in a one story four bedroom house in a nice neighborhood. "Thank you, Momma." Luther said as he opened his presents. "Your welcome, baby." I said wrapping my arms around him.

Luther received loads of money for his present and he was smiling from ear to ear. No one knows the happiness I'm feeling. My baby never got the chance to celebrate any of his birthdays besides this one and I made sure to go all out.

"Dude! Your Mom bought you a XBOX, flat screen TV, and your own computer. You're so lucky." A friend of Luther's said. "Only because my mom worked really hard for me to have this stuff, and I appreciate it all." Luther said and tears began to form in my eyes. I squeezed Luther into my chest and gave him a shower of kisses on the face. "I love you." I whispered to him and let him go.

After everyone left when the party was over, I cleaned up my home then my doorbell rang when it was extremely. "Luther, can you get that please?" I yelled from the kitchen. "Mom, my wish came true!" I hear Luther yell then his footsteps were heard along with a pair of extremely heavy footsteps.

My eyebrows scrunched up and I looked into the window above the sink to look at my appearance. My elbow length light brown hair that looks a light red is down in its big waves tucked behind my ears, freckles dusted my nose and upper cheeks. My honey brown eyes were finally filled with happiness after ten years of hard work and I stood at an average height of five three and a half

I straightened up my plain white V-neck shirt and black skinny pants. Wiping away any smug of mascara, eyeliner, or lip gloss, I turned to the entrance of the kitchen as their footsteps grew closer. "Who was at the door?" I spoke loudly just as Luther walked into the kitchen.

In stepped a tall muscular man with long black wild hair and dark grey eyes that were trained on me. My breathing hitched as my heart sped up. I took a step back and gripped onto the counter next to me. "Luther, come here." I said in a shaky voice and Luther gave me a confused expression but did as he was told.

"What's wrong?" He asked and I grabbed him. I pushed him behind me taking a quick step back when he took a quick step towards us. He let out a sigh and stepped back. "Why are you out so early, Lucifer?" I asked then flinched when he raised a hand and ran it through his messy hair.
