Even though Mikah was in a happy relationship with her lover, Dio, nightmares still haunted her. Sadly, these nightmares were something she could not get rid of. Sometimes the nightmares are so bad that she can't sleep for days. On one particular night is when the nightmares started to become lucid. She started to realise that every time she had a nightmare her mind told her it was a nightmare, the little bit of conciseness she had remaining told her to wake up from it.
On the night of 23rd of December 2022 was the first night of the beginning of a lucid reality.
That night Mikah fell into a deep slumber, her mind swarming with all the fears of all the nightmares she had induced. As her eyes closed shut, it only took 5 minutes before she awoke in what looked to be an apocalypse wonderland, people wondering around the streets covered in ash, dirt and wearing torn clothes. The sky covered with clothes and not a spec of blue to be seen. As Mikah looked around taking in all the details of this apocalyptic wasteland she noticed her mother standing in front of her.
Her mother was wearing a big khaki combat jacket along with ripped dirty jeans and a black tank top. The stench of sweat, burning, rot cursed her nose as she covered her mouth.
'God, this is horrible... Looks like a wasteland. Ash covering everything, this place is ruined. Nearly everything is burnt'
She thought to herself when everything suddenly made sense. This feeling was so unexplainable. This life, her body was not hers, her consciousness was so disconnected from everything. As if her conscious was in a different body living a different life in a separate reality. Her body didn't feel real.
As she continued walking along, following her mum, Mikah felt that all too familiar eerie feeling, the feeling that something was going to happen. As she glanced around for anything that seemed off, anything at all of an eerie nature. That's when she saw it. Saw him. That thing.
This man was fear. Pale greyish skin. Same sinister grin, dirty clothes and eyes that stared right into your soul. She felt 'her' body continue walking but for her conscious everything froze. This man was stood in a little alleyway between some small buildings, the darkness of the alleyway mostly hid him. For Mikah, she could easily see him. It wasn't hard to spot the man that haunted her every nightmare, carving trauma into her brain that she is unable to forget.
One feature stuck out among every other. Usually when she spots him, the result is pain and death. This scenario is different. Sickening.
As she stared at the man in front of her, she saw his hand stroking back and forth. This sickening man was pleasing himself to the sight of her. Vomit forming in her mouth as her eyes froze on this sight. Why was he doing this? Usually he's always hurting her, but why this? Mikah tried to pull her eyes away from this sight, tried calling out to her mum and tried to call out to someone to help her but no one listened to her.
This man stared at her continuously while his hand moved back and forth until she realised that he was slowly walking towards her. She wanted help but it was the same, each time. None. This time everything froze up. This was so odd. Her mind froze, her eyes, her thought. No one helped her and no one noticed what was helping. It was like everyone around her we robot's programmed to do the same thing each day. So brain-dead that they don't notice anything around them. Their conscious no longer exists. When someone with a conscious exists, no one answers their cry for help. It is within their destiny to be a brain-dead being or... come face to face with death.
Mikah knew her destiny. But didn't know how she will face such fate.
As the man kept stepping closer, she kept panicking in her frozen-up state but eventually had enough courage to tell herself to wake up, thinking of ways that would be able to make it possible.
Maybe pinching herself? She felt her heart beating fast. It hurt as her it pounded more and more as panic set it. In the corner of her eye, Mikah saw everyone staring at her. The evil man just stared at her as every step he took felt even more haunting.
Mikah told herself repeatedly;
'This isn't real!'
That's when it hit her. None of this was real. It was all fake. In her mind. But she couldn't move, thinking of a way to wake up but nothing would work. At his point her heart was pounding so much that it hurt her chest. Vision beginning to blur from the tears forming. Her only way out of this was to have him catch her or to have someone wake her up.
Thanks to a miracle Mikah's mother had come to wake her up so Mikah bolted up in bed panting as she heard her mother voice shouting to her from her stairs in her safe warm home.
'Mikah! Are you coming with me to do shopping?'
Mikah panting while wiping the sweat from her brow.
'Yeah Mum'
Mikah answered back shakily as She was comprehending what happened. The nightmare, The evil man and the lucid reality.
