Genevieve Ellery had spent much of her life thinking. She supposed it had something to do with the completion of her life, the lack of choice, seemed a better way to phrase it.

All her life, everything had been picked for her. From her dresses to her casket style, everything was without choice. It was a fantasy to have her own decision, yet it was a fatal occurrence. What would she do if her mother asked what she wanted for dinner?

Should she say something her parents would like also? Or a meal she had been craving for months? Genevieve supposed she was lucky, never had she come to the difficult situation of choosing between one or two.

Regulus Black had nothing. No matter what he said, the soirees, the fine silks and God knows what else, nothing held true value in his eyes.

He wasn't ungrateful, the boy spent his days in denial, telling himself everything he possessed was much more than everything he'd ever dreamed of. The world spun around this sixteen year old, it was perfect, and he'd given up telling himself otherwise.

Though his brother had left the weight of the family upon his shoulders, it was all the same. Somewhere in the back of his mind, it was always him. Always Regulus to capture the burden of the Noble House of Black.

Privilege or not, he didn't want it. Possibly because I came with marriage, and marriage he knew he would dislike. Whatever girl they shipped from France or wherever in the world he knew she would not care for him either.

Maybe love wasn't what Regulus wanted, he had never truly seen that sort of emotion. In fact he'd never seen any emotion at all.

Genevieve and Regulus wanted the world, and not the one they had tightly wrapped around their necks, sucking freedom from their bodies. Soon it would be gone. Choice, freedom, everything would all be gone as the string pulled tighter and tighter.
