a cold breeze swept against taehyung's skin as he stepped out of the convenience store. the black plastic bag hung on one hand and his phone on the other, the tall blonde stepped out on the street reading something. 'i have to take two things more okay' he thought as he made his way towards his dormitory.
the college that he enrolled in this semester was different from his previous one. this had faculties who were experts in their respective fields, the campus was vast, the ambience was much more inhabiting than the previous one. being born in a small town taehyung didn't have the luxury to witness fancy places. but as he grew older and changed towns after towns, cities after cities these places seem to lose its fanciness to him. when he was a child and saw huge buildings, fancy decors, it made him desire for it more but as he grew older the boy realised how empty these huge buildings were. materialistic things never provide warmth to one's soul.
he was glad he could join this college, having a new beginning, a new motive to his life was all he wanted on his twenty first birthday. life has always been hard for him. being alone at such a young age made him mature early. he was forced to grow up. and after surviving the painful days all he wanted to was start everything fresh, putting band-aids on his scars he stepped into a new era where no one knew of his past. the boy thought this way the scars would hurt less and maybe, just maybe, they would start fading away gradually.
being alone at such a young age does make one feel lonely, makes one feel uncertain and taehyung did too. he too felt lack of love, warmth and security, he craved for it but fate didn't seem to be on his side. he tried to fit in everywhere, put on masks and tried to please almost everyone he met. little taehyung thought that maybe by meeting other's exceptions he would be able to survive and live a secured life. get someone's warmth and love. but soon his hopes were shredded into pieces, he was shattered, broken. and now he stood like a mirrorball at a party, made up of broken pieces of glass.

placing the bag on the study desk as he entered his shared dorm with a shorter blonde, taehyung made his way to the bedside table and poured himself a glass of water.
"where did you go?" jimin asked.
"just had some errands to run. you were in the shower so I didn't bother you" taehyung said taking a sip.
"uni starts in a day ughh I have so much to catch on" jimin said looking at his laptop which had multiple tabs open.
"exactly- uni didn't even start what are you trying to catch on?" taehyung said raising his eyebrows.
"i want to prepare a brief idea of my subjects beforehand. can't afford to see my cgpa go down" jimin said while his eyes were fixed on the laptop screen and hands clicking on buttons.
taehyung took a sigh and sat on his bed. "Hey do you mind if I vape?" taehyung asked jimin, he didn't want to suffocate the other just in case.
"no just open the window" jimin said without looking at the taller as his eyes were fixed on his screen reviewing notes.
taehyung stood up and with a movement of his hand opened the window. making his body go back to the same position it was in before opening the window, taehyung drew the vapour in just to release it after a few seconds. taehyung repeated his actions for a few more times before jimin broke the silence.
"so you are an addict huh?" jimin said slightly turning his head to face the younger.
"the answer is complex. it's not like I can't live without it but I would prefer living with it." taehyung said releasing the smoke.
the clock which sat on the table beside the bed read 6:43pm.
"oh taehyung I have something to tell you" jimin asked taking off his glasses gaining a nod from the younger in response.
