"I did nothing to deserve this."

The sun is dipping in California, casting a warm hue over the waves. The shore falls into an unsettling stillness. The homes of rich and middle-income neighborhoods are becoming quiet.

Too quiet.

The night echoes with the weight of past shadows. Tonight feels eerily reminiscent of the night Lizzy and Sam's mother vanished without a trace.

Three teenage girls sit on Sam's grandmother's living room couch and their laughter and conversing cuts the ominous silence enveloping the neighborhood. A spread of snacks-chips, cookies, and sodas with wine coolers sit on the living room table before them.

The girls you are about to meet are the ultimate trio connected to Sam which together they are better known as The Core Four. Besties since freshmen year of Caroline High School.

There's Zyrah Quinn, who's known Sam since middle school. She's a little taller than everyone in the group, has pretty brown eyes with silk brown-dark chocolate skin, and a stylish choice of braids for her hairstyle, and wears glasses.

Next, we have Madison Barlowe. A bit annoying... at least to Makayla. She's the shortest of the group, her curves complementing her waist and thighs, and brown skin tone. Her colorful wardrobe gives off vibrant energy and she's in tack with matching with her best girlfriend Makayla Harper.

They- well Madison calls their duo "M & M." Get it? Like the candy-

Anyway, Makayla despises it.

Lastly, the warmth and goofy character that'll bring ease and comedic relief to this dark journey we're about to begin. Don't get it twisted though, she's big-brained at almost everything. She's light-skinned, equal to the same height as Sam around 5'6 - 5'8. Can't tell her shit when it comes to her bold makeup choices that resemble Euphoria's 2019 characters, 2 piece-matching outfit sets, and loves to get sexual with almost everyone in the group. She swears she's straight.

Don't tell her I said that.

"I just don't get what any boy at that school sees in her," Madison says looking at her phone in disgust.

"That girl is such a pick-me," Zyrah joins in on the slander.

"Who Alison?" Makayla asks peering at Madison's phone.

Zyrah scrolls through the thriller genre list of movies on Netflix. She stops, bringing her attention to M & M sitting aside of her.

"- Yes, nothing about that bitch screams cute."

"Well, I mean you do realize only the white boys talk to her right?" Makayla asks curiously.

"Oop that's a fucking lie," Madison says almost cutting her off.

Makayla makes eye contact with Madison now, "What are you talking about?"
