I hate moving, especially if it's whole city's! It was so uncomfortably quiet in the car, only the radio was playing. Maggie was already passed out from the long drive, but what can you expect from a 9 year old? It was all moggy outside, they windows were all fogged up. Maggie would probably draw on them if she was still awake.
"Anastasia, how are you holding up?" My mother asked from the front seat, I could feel her looking back at me.
"I'm doing fine mother. Just a bit tired." Just tired was probably an understatement but I couldn't be already exhausted by sitting in a car.
"Get your head off the window dear, you'll get your hair wet." I could Hear the angry tone in her soft voice. As I lifted my head off the window I could see that my hair made an odd pattern in the fog of it.
"How much longer till we get there?" I looked over at my mother who was looking straight ahead, at least she wasn't looking at me.
"Just an hour or two dear." Maybe I shouldn't ask anymore questions.. she seems mad I even spoke. Slowly, I nodded and grabbed my game boy from my bag opening one of my games I had on it. Hopefully this will make the time go quicker, I couldn't stand to stay in this car anymore.
I got bored of the game I was playing sooner or later, Opening my photos album on it I took a picture of just me. God I looked exhausted, like I hadn't slept in years. I didn't want to look at myself anymore. I opened the same game again, sure it was boring but what else could I do? I wasn't the best at drawing and god knows I wouldn't be able to pick what the radio played.
It felt like years had passed before the car stopped, I heard my father open his door and get out. My mother as well did the same. I gently shook Maggie's little shoulder to wake her up and got out of the car as well. It looked like a small town, not a bunch of people walking the streets. Maybe this is why mom wanted to move, it's more quiet here then then California.
I felt my mother push me over to a house and shoved me in, I almost tripped on the floorboards. I turned my head over to my mother who seemed to be glaring at something. I poked my head my head out the door and looked where my mother was. A group of 4 boys were just leaning against a store near by, why would my mother be glaring at them? And why did she push me in?
Whatever, at least I got to pick my room first. I looked around the house as I walked up the stairs, after opening a door or two I finally found my literally dear room. It had a window with a loft! Why didn't I ask for that in our old house? Placing my bag down on the cushion I looked out the window again, hm, the boys were still there. They looked stupid just standing there.
"Anastasia." I almost jumped at my fathers harsh voice.
"Yes father?"
"You should be helping, shouldn't you?"
"What is there to help with?"
"Get your shit out of the truck." Now I did jump at him slamming the door shut. Why did I find him so scary? He was just a man who could barely walk himself around the house. I reopened my door and when down the stairs, I saw that my mother was in the kitchen.
I hopped out the door and spun on my heel to get to the back of the car. Popping the back open I grabbed my suitcase and sleeping bag from the back, I slowly walked back up to the house. I turned my head around to see if I closed the back of the car, but I saw the boys were still there.. were they staring at me..? No, of course not. That's stupid Anastasia. Don't be so full of yourself like that.
I awkwardly closed the front door and walked up the stairs to my room, plopping my bags on the ground. Putting my sleeping bag where I want to put my bed when it got here. My mother said that the moving truck was going to be here tomorrow, but for now I had to sleep on the floor in a sleeping bag.
This was going to be a long night..
