Akshara's POV:
I sat in the room with this heavy lehenga, just as heavy as my heart. Just some more minutes and i will be his wife.
The akshara i am seeing in the mirror, wearing red, dolled up, ready to be wedded was the least thing i wanted. My younger self never dreamed about man or making my own family. My only ambition was to be standing proudly, independent. But, here I am....going to be someone's wife without any own identity of mine. My younger self will be buried the minute I take his surname.
I wiped the lone tear before it could fall from my eyes as the makeup artist worked hard. I chose very minimal makeup for me, the lehenga was enough to make me look shiny.
Lehenga was specially designed for me as mom didn't want Rawat's disappointment, that was the last thing she wants right now. I had some jewellery which made my outfit more heavy.
I was admiring myself as for the first time I felt this pretty when I heard the sound of bhaarat. They are here......
I tried to peak but I couldn't see him, my cousins which i didn't know existed had surrounded him.
*Sigh*
I came back and sat on the chair. I looked at the mehendi in my hands, my gaze went to the small letters hiding. It was his name, Aaransh...
I still remember siya and maa..as in his mom teasing me about this. Then on haldi again, I was done with all teasing with abhi Bhai and siya then maa also joined them.
Maa, yes. She was kind enough to recognise my awkwardness about addressing her as she told me to call her maa, as all of her kids call her. I hesitated a bit but accepted it.
I was in my thoughts when the door opened, it was my mom and dad. Ohhh....they cared enough to come and talk.
"Akshara..." My dad said as I got up, standing in front of them. They looked at me and their gaze said that they were satisfied with my look.
"It's time, don't let us down in that house akshara. You will be their responsibility now." My dad said as i looked at him.
"Act like you deserve to be Rawat's Daughter-in-law, hold that class and elegance when you walk. Do you understand?" My mom asked as i nodded.
Responsibility, don't let us down....i wanted to hear some warm words from my parents but as always i expect alot from people which makes me disappointed at the end.
"Maa sa....? Where is she?" I asked my mom. I don't care about the people standing in front of me but her, she's my parent...and only parent.
"She's waiting outside, meet her and I will come to take you. Finish it out fast. Don't do crying and all, your makeup will be ruined." My mom said as they went out. This woman....am i adopted or something? What did I do that they don't care about me? How can a mother be like this with her own child?.
I sighed as my frown was replaced with a smile when maa sa entered.
"Maa sa..." I said as i hugged her.
"My girl...look at you all grown up." She said caressing my hair as we backed away.
"Maa sa, you really want to go with Bhai? There is no problem if you come with me, I will talk with Aaransh ji, he will understand." I said as I wanted her to come with me after marriage but I don't want her to sacrifice more. She decided to go with her son who is like a brother to me.
