Alice and Karlee make it to Bella's house.
"Nobody's home." Alice says before she speeds into Bella's window and down to open the door for Karlee.
"Break in, why don't we?" Karlee says sarcastically.
"We'll wait in here for Charlie."
"How will you explain why we are here?"
"I'll figure it out when he gets here."
"Okay then." Karlee says before she gets a text from her mom.
Did you make it to Forks? - MOM
Yeah. We're at Bella's house. Nobody's home. - Karlee
Karlee and Alice were waiting in the dark for about half an hour before Bella rushed into the house. Bella, Karlee, and Alice are all stunned.
"Alice! Karlee!" Bella excitedly exclaims
"You're...alive?" Alice says confused
Bella brings both Alice and Karlee into a hug while she cries tears of joy.
"Oh my god, Alice, Karlee. You're here." Bella says
"I heard voices...I didn't think it was you...but you're alive."
"You keep saying that."
"Because she had a vision of you jumping off a cliff!" Karlee says
"I knew we would be late, but...Why the hell would you try to kill yourself?!" Alice angrily exclaims
"I didn't. I was cliff diving." Bella says
"Why?" Karlee asks
"Umm...fun?"
"That was fun for you?" Alice asks
"Until I hit the water." Bella says and Karlee scoffs.
"And you guys call me crazy." Karlee comments
"I have never met someone more prone to life-threatening idiocy....and what is that hideous dog smell?" Alice says
"Dog smell?" Karlee asks
"It's probably Jacob. He's kind of a werewolf." Bella says
Alice looks horrified and Karlee's eyebrows raise.
"Werewolves are not good company to keep. They're vicious--" Alice says before she gets cut off by Bella.
"They are not vicious." Bella defends
"Until they lose their tempers." Alice snarks
"They saved me from Laurent. They're protecting me from Victoria..."
"Victoria? I didn't see her. I didn't see her. I didn't see you get pulled from the water either."
"It was Jacob who saved me. More than once. I couldn't have made it without him. You have no idea what it was like."
"Yes. I do. I knew leaving wouldn't be good for you. I tried to tell Edward, but he wouldn't listen."
"And Carlisle tends to only listen to Edward. We were all against leaving, but what Edward wants, Edward gets." Karlee says
"Does he know you're here?" Bella hesitantly asks
Karlee shakes her head. "No."
"He's been...away." Alice says.
Jacob then walks in.
"I thought you couldn't protect me here." Bella says to Jacob confused.
"I guess I don't care." Jacob says.
