Chapter 4-The confession

(Tuesday),Down at the station.-Detective Lee, sir do you know why you are here today.-Dad, not not exactly.-Detective Lee, mister Carter you daughter.dad slammed his hands on the table.-Dad, she's not my daughter.-Detective Lee, why do you not believe miss Ashlyn isn't yours sir.-Dad,because my wife told me about her affair and confessed she wasn't mine.-Detective Lee, and did you ever see her as your daughter before hand.-Dad, yes but only because I was lied to, deceived Ashlyn is nothing to me the only good thing I had died in that house. (Behind the glass).-Marissa, how can he just degrade her like she's nothing, this man raised her like his own for 10 years. and suddenly he was no love for her how can he just disown his daughter so easily it's sick.

-Sherif, there are sick people in this world and not we can't cure them all.-Marissa,So he's guilty let's send his case to the judge.-Sherif, look I believe Ashlyn she had no reason to lie but until we get her test results back from her rape kit diagnosis and his statement we can't send this to court the lack of evidence would easily suit this case down.-Marissa, so what happens now.-Sherif, now what we do is set him up to a lie detector and bring in a tape recorder and prep him for questioning. Then Marissa walks into the room and the detective stands at the door while Marissa sits down across from him.-Marissa, Mr. Carter how would you describe your relationship with your wife and Ashlyn.-Dad, I would say my wife is an angle who took the wrong path and for her all I see when I think of her is discuss, and anger.-Marissa, yes or no, do you blame Ashlyn for your wife's death.

-Dad, absolutely because if Ashlyn wasn't here I wouldn't be at the bar and she wouldn't have been so upset when I was there all that girl did was create problems for us.-Marissa, would you say that you took your anger about your life on Ashlyn.-Dad, I would say that my life wouldn't had anger if Ashlyn wasn't in the picture.-Marissa,so with her out of your life are you now happy, less angry.-Dad,I am infuriated bc she is the reason my wife overdosed because she's a horrible kid who destroyed this family, if my wife was alive right now I would be the happiest man alive because it would just be me and her again.-Marissa, I have no further questions Mr. Lee you can now do the lie detector segment of this interaction.

-Detective Lee, Mr. Carter you will answer yes or no to my questions and I want you to be honest and tell the truth because it will only look stupid on ur part if you lie, understand.-Dad, yes.-Detective Lee, Did you ever physically hurt Ashlyn.-Dad, Yes.-Detective Lee, Have you ever slapped her mother Sylvia.-Dad, No i have not.-Detective Lee,have you ever had sexual attraction to Ashlyn.-Dad, no.-Detective Lee, have you in your life sexually assaulted Ashlyn.-Dad, Yes. He smiled and covered his mouth. Marissa was so angry and discussed by his actions that she had to step out the room.-Detective Lee, do you feel any remorse for how you have treated this young lady Ashlyn.-Dad, no I don't.-Detective Lee, that's all for now, thank you for ur time.

-Marissa, so was he lying.-Detective Lee, as of right now there's no way to prove at this moment, results need 24 hours to comeplete.-Marissa, so do we keep him till results. -Sherif, no without that solid proof from the hospital and this test we can't hold him but we an secure him on house arrest till the trial.-Marissa,I guess that will have to do I'm going to contact Ashlyn and her grandma to discuss this case going forward.-sheriff, be safe honey I'll update you.-Detective Lee, daughter?-Sheriff, yep that's my girl. -Ashlyn, who was that granny.-Granny, it was Marissa the girl who came over Saturday to see you, she's meeting us here to share some news about what's gonna happen.-Ashlyn, is it bad news.-Grandma, I'm not sure sweetie she didn't say, but the school called and said you could start Monday, they need time to get your old records and transcripts but in the meantime time we could get you some more clothes and some school supplies maybe.-Ashlyn, that sounds amazing grandma thank you.-Granny, I would do anything for you my sweet girl. Marissa walked over and we all sat down at the picnic table to talk.-Marissa, hi guys how are we doing, are you settling in well.-Ashlyn, I feel so much better since I've been out that house me and grandma and doing our best and I'm better.-Marissa, I'm s glad to hear that, now grandma you took her to the diagnostic clinic for her exam yes.-Granny, we did and she was uncomfortable with them inspecting her body ofc but in the end we pushed threw it.-Ashlyn, I was scared but I knew it had to be done granny explained to me that it would help my case to have that proof.

-Marissa, yes it will and you have been providing us excellent information about you situation and your test result on that should take 24 hours to complete and get the later work back.-Ashlyn, the doctor told me the test was to see if I got damaged by him or if I caught something, what happens to me if I do.-Marissa, I don't want you to freak out honey I know this is scary but most stds are curable if you end up with one and we will be here every step of the way.-Granny, and the doctor say you have a 50/50 chance of not having one, but what is the news you had to share with us.

-Marissa, right so in order to fully submit your case to the court we have to gather evidence and make a strong statement no you Alr gave us you statement but we had to get one also from your father. Also we ran a dna test and a lie detector test along with it, and the results for his test are also 24 hours till completion so I can't submit the case and get a court date till tomorrow.-Granny, and when you submit the case tomorrow how fast can we see the judge.-Marissa, I can't give you an exact date but since this is a miner case it will be 1-7 days. This was a lot of Information on me, a dna test, what if my mom lied what if I was his and what would that mean for me.
