It was just after the final bell had rung
Signaling the end of another school day.
An hour had already passed...
The campus felt far from settling down.It was outside..
As rain drizzled steadily...
Casting a gray haze over the view from the windows.
The sound was soft but was relentless..
A backdrop of endless tapping that made everything feel a bit duller..A bit heavier.
Tea glanced out at the rain and sighed.
"It's raining again. Is there ever a break from it? Can we just have one normal day without rain?" Tea
The rain had a way of making everything feel monotonous washing the color out of the world and leaving it muted.
Inside, the school was alive with the usual energy of students lingering in the hallways..
Some eager for the day to end
Others were wrapped up in conversations and plans holding onto these moments before heading home.
The air was buzzling with small groups chatting and laughing..
There was a special commotion centered around a single desk in the corner.
Students gathered tightly as heads were bent close...
Their voices were hushed but excited. It looked like there was a tournament of some kind of an underway...
It was hard to tell what exactly had everyone's attention.
There was an intensity to the scene...
The way everyone leaned in..
They were all completely absorbed in the moment..As if this was the most important thing in the world right now.
In the middle of the game..
Yugi picked up a card and turned it over with a calm focused look.
Across from him, Joey confidently placed a card on the board..
Which was really just a small gaming mat decorated with a makeshift map."Heck yeah! I've got this one in the bag!" Joey
He grinned, feeling the thrill of victory.
"Didn't think I'd pull it off, but hey—looks like it wasn't so bad after all." Joey
Yugi chuckled glancing at Joey's card.
"Look a little closer... It's a good move, but... is it enough?" Yugi
"What?!" Joey
Joey's confidence faltered as he saw the tides turning.
"How? No way!" Joey
He rambled, frustrated at his sudden loss.
Tea leaned in, explaining with a grin."You see, each card has a certain amount of power. The right combination can completely limit an opponent's options. Once they're backed into a corner, it's easy for the other player to take control of the duel." Tea
Tristan scratched his head, trying to follow along.
"Sounds complicated, but yeah... I get it. Kinda." Tristian
He shrugged.
"It's just a card game, but you guys are taking it as seriously as if you're controlling someone's entire fate." Tristian
"There's a lot more to it than you think," Tea
She replied, nodding towards Yugi and Joey.
"They put all their time into learning how to master it." Tea
"No wonder why.. Yugi is such an expert to this dueling game" Tristian
Tristan walked over, throwing an arm around Joey's shoulder with a smirk.
"Guess you just gotta keep practicing, Joey. For now, though... you just stink at this game." Tristian
"Oh yeah?" Joey
He retorted, folding his arms.
"Why don't you give it a try, then? Show me how a pro does it, Mr. Expert!" Joey
Tristan grinned, feigning thoughtfulness.
"Hmm... well, it'd probably just be a yawning match for you." Tristian
Joey rolled his eyes.
"It's called dueling, Tristan! You should know that by now!"Joey
Everyone laughed at the back-and-forth between Joey and Tristan..
The lighthearted teasing bringing smiles all around.
Joey wasn't exactly thrilled by the jab, but he took it in a stride joining in the playful atmosphere."Well, looks like I'll just keep practicing 'til I'm unstoppable!" Joey
He declared with a grin.
"Right... except that Yugi just kicked your butt," Tristan
He teased, clapping him on the shoulder.
Tea chuckled."Hey, at least you'll know what not to do next time, Joey." Tea
"Exactly," Yugi
He added.
"It's all about learning from each game. You'll get better the more you practice." Yugi
"I'm sure you'll keep improving, Joey," Tea
She encouraged.
"Just stick with it." Tea
Joey sighed..
Glancing at Yugi with admiration."Yugi, I don't know how you pull off these wins so easily. You gotta show me your secret to winning outta nowhere!" Joey
Yugi smiled.
"Alright, it's not as easy as it looks, but I'd be happy to help. Why don't we all go to my grandpa's game shop in Domino City? We can practice, and I'll show you some of my favorite strategies." Yugi
"Oh, that'd be awesome, Yugi!" Tea
She said excitedly.
"And maybe we can see your collection?" Tea
"Yeah, for sure," Yugi
He nodded.
"And I'll even show you my grandpa's super rare card. It's something really special." Yugi
Joey's eyes widened.
"A rare card? Now that's something I gotta see!" Joey
Yugi laughs at Joey's remarks
"Don't worry, Joey. We'll all check it out together." Yugi
