The next food drop, Myles and I made sure to be on the opposite of the clothes and torso. The door opened like usual, the tray was dropped like usual, the door closed like usual. We both breathed a silent sigh of relief. One body was enough to get rid of for now.
We ate. Silently. But still comfortably. It was an air of familiarity and comfort. And to me it was slightly awkward.
I had never been 'comfortable' around others. Lately I found myself relaxing and it was disconcerting. Normally other people made me tense and ready to flee at a moments notice. But these people -Myles, Hallsy, and my father- made me feel safe and, dare I say it, happy.
Myles wasn't taken that day. Probably looking for their lost comrade. They can search but they won't find him. Well, unless they look outside the window or inside our cell itself.
Myles and I stayed quiet, drifting in and out of sleep throughout the day. When night fell and no one came, I made my move. After unlocking the door, I gathered the clothes in one hand and hauled the man's torso with me in the other.
"Maybe," Myles whispered, "I could come with next time?"
I looked his face over, he seemed hopeful and nervous and even a little excited. I sighed internally, he seems to be growing... attached. I'm not sure how to feel attached anymore. "Maybe." I said simply.
Myles smiled gently at me as he closed the door. I locked it again then proceeded to Alpha's cell.
He opened the door after a short code of knocking (after I gave him part of my lock picks it became easier without having to do it with miscellaneous rocks).
He stared for a moment at the clothes then made a whimper at the sight of the meaty torso. He looked up with pleading eyes and I nodded. He seized the torso (letting his wolf teeth over come his other set) and took a large bite from the man's pectorals. He tore and ravaged the dead body part.
I could see, even with one bite, that he was regaining color and strength.
After he devoured all he could on the body part, I handed him the clothes, they were a smidge baggy but they did't have holes in them at least.
Alpha sucked the marrow out of the bones with loud slurps. He sighed and fell back when there was little left but shards of bone. I gathered the bones and gave one piece to Alpha.
"What's this then?" He asked while weighing the bone in his hand.
"A weapon." I smiled to him.
He smiled back, "I shall cherish it forever dear." He slung an arm around my shoulders and leaned in, giving my forehead a kiss.
I sat with him, explaining and practicing self defense moves I learned with the pack. He listened and participated with rapt attention.
"Well it seems that I shouldn't have been so quick to judge this 'New', as you call him. Maybe if he would've talked with me instead of chucking me out to die, we could've have worked something out." He gave my shoulder a squeeze, "I'm just glad that you're safe and healthy."
I smiled lightly, not letting my face show my flare of anger at the memory of Alpha being beaten. It had been some time since I had to think about it but the mental scar was still painful. "There is no reason to fret over the past; we cannot change it."
Alpha nodded in acknowledgement, seeming to already be off the subject mentally. "Daughter," his voice was serious and dark, "We need to think of escape. And make it as soon as possible. I have this feeling... Something terrible is coming and we need to be far away from it." He trained his eyes on me, "The other two can come along, but if they slow us down I'm cutting them loose. I don't think there's any other prisoners in here so we can just make a beeline for the door."
"I have been thinking for awhile of a way to escape. I've come up with a few that are viable options. Though there is one that seems to be the best way."
"Then by all means, take it away." He made a sweeping gesture.
And so the plan began.
Sorry its been so long, school work caught up with me. I know its short, especially after waiting, but I needed to get it out of the way so I could think clearly for the rest. I hope this tid-bit is a little better so I will say adieu and have a nice day :)
