Chapter - 43

Everyone maintained a pin-drop silence. The house, which had been filled with the sound of crying earlier, was now utterly quiet. All eyes were on Mrs. Lim. Jungkook stood with irritation, clutching Taehyung's hand. He was growing annoyed at having to stand in one place for so long, but he couldn’t say anything—just standing there with a pout. Taehyung, as usual, stood calmly, focused on his phone, indifferent to the ongoing conversation.

After a long silence, Mrs. Lim finally spoke,

--" On the day of Jungkook’s reception, Evan (her husband) suddenly received a message. It said that our new business had suffered a significant loss. Evan’s friend had embezzled a large amount of money, leaving us completely destitute. He sold off everything and disappeared. But even that wasn’t enough—he filed a false case against Evan, accusing him of stealing two crore wons from the office. That night, we fled to our flat in abroad to avoid further trouble.

She wiped her tears with the edge of her scarf as she spoke. Everyone was shocked to hear such a major incident had occurred, and she hadn’t told anyone about it. Mrs. Jeon embraced Mrs. Lim tightly. Taehyung looked up from his phone, frowning as he gazed at Mrs. Lim. He knew she was lying. He had told her earlier to speak the entire truth, so why hadn’t she? Every detail of her story was true, but the real reason for leaving was a lie—a secret known only to Taehyung and Mrs. Lim. Before coming here, Taehyung had told her she could reveal everything if she wanted to, but he wasn’t bothered by her choices.

As Taehyung stood there, deep in thought, he suddenly saw Mrs. Lim approach him. His eyebrows furrowed as he watched her come closer.

Mrs. Lim wiped her tears and stood before Taehyung and Jungkook. Glancing at both of them, she smiled faintly, placing a hand on Jungkook’s fluffy cheeks.

--" How are you, Kookie?

Jungkook gave a soft smile, nodding his head.

--" I’m fine, Aunty! How have you been?

--" I’m doing good.

Mrs. Lim replied. She turned to Taehyung, lowered her head with a small smile, and wiped her tears before straightening up.

--" You have helped us so much—I cannot deny it. I will never forget the help you’ve given us. You have given my children a new life. I don’t even want to think about what would have happened if you hadn’t been there.

Hearing her words, everyone present was astonished, staring at Taehyung and Mrs. Lim in disbelief. Taehyung stood there calmly, while Jungkook clung to his biceps, looking at him with wide, astonished doe eyes.

Mrs. Lim wiped her tears and began,

--" After we moved to abroad, things seemed fine. But when Soobin had an accident, the doctors found a hole in his heart. He needed an urgent, expensive surgery, but we had no money left. In that desperate moment, I shared everything with Taehyung. He covered all the costs and helped us regain stability. I couldn’t tell anyone, not wanting to worry you all. Just as we planned to return, Jhope’s sudden death shattered us…

She broke down, leaving everyone stunned. Jungkook looked at Taehyung, shocked and speechless.

Although Mrs. Lim’s words were mostly true, she withheld some details known only to her and Taehyung. Under Taehyung’s instruction, she arrived at the airport with his guards on their reception day, and they were sent to abroad. There,  Taehyung provided them with an apartment in Mrs. Lim’s name, fully secured with his guards constantly monitoring them. Although unhappy about being cut off from family and unable to contact anyone, they eventually settled into a comfortable life.
