I walked down the pavement slowly and took all the time in the world. I saw no reason to rush, i wasn't in any hurry to get anywhere. As i walked i looked to my right, seeing what looked like apartments and to my left was a field of long grass. I took a hard left onto a dirt path, my boots kicked up the dirt like it was dust on a shelf. Through the dirt and grass, was tall beautiful oak tree. And behind it stood plenty of others. I started to walk through the grass to the tree.
It was the middle of summer and my life was very low key at the moment, i never had anything to do. And lately i picked back up photography.
As i reached the tree i pulled my camera up to my face. I peered through the lens, the trunk was black with gray highlights and the sun was just starting to peek out from behind the trunk. My hand turned the lens to focus on the tree and the sun. I took a deep breath as my finger lowered to the shutter button. I pressed it and there was a click. I brought my camera away from my face and looked at the picture. It was perfect, the sun, the tree, and the grass worked perfectly together.
I turned around and headed back the way I came. I couldn't help but think about that tree, The purity and beauty of it was amazing. It looked so elegant.
I was looking down at my camera when i ran into someone. "I'm so sorry!" I gasped.
I looked up to see it was a boy, he had white hair and gray eyes. He too was holding a camera. We made eye contact "don't worry about it.. Is that a Nikon d3300?" He asked.
"Yeah it is.." I Forces my self to look down at my camera.
"Wow! I haven't seen on in person before" he looked really excited.
"Do you want to try it?" I offered.
"Really?" His eyes lit up, it was like the stars came to life.
I removed the camera from my neck and he handed me his. He pulled the view finder to his eye and took a picture. Click. He looked down at the screen. "This is amazing" we exchanged cameras again as i looked at the picture he took "i love the colors, the tan and green work well together" he said.
"Um what's green?" I was very confused on what he was talking about.
"Can you see colors?" He asked concerned.
"I don't think so" i replied.
He reached down into his pocket pulling out a marker and grabbed my hand. He wrote his number '212-786-3255'.
"Call me when you can hang out, i want to teach you to see colors" he said before walking away.
'What are colors?' I asked myself. I continued to walk home as I pondered on this. 'What is green?' I was so confused that i had to stop thinking.
I took just a couple turns before reaching the park near my house. I walked through the park and walked for another couple miles before reaching my friend's mother's house. I rang the buzzer before punching in the code. After the gate opened, i was greeted by Woody.
Woody is a beautiful grey stallion, he is probably one of my favorite horses out of all of them. Then there was peppy and bella.
I continued to the green house at the end of the long drive way. I went through the walk way and walked to the farther pasture, where peppy and bella stayed. I missed riding them, and feeling the soft air on my neck. I missed being able to pet them. I found my self sneaking of of the land.
I started to walk back to the park, after i arrived i sat down and started to think about what the boy said...
