Outside a cinema in Seoul
December 1st, 2024
It was getting much colder now that winter had finally settled in.
Jungkook felt the chill in the air, rubbing his gloved hands together as he waited outside the theatre. He glanced around, watching the passersby, looking to see if the person he waited for, had arrived yet.
Blinding Christmas lights blinked and flashed and twinkled on every shop window, taxi cab and building in town. Dotted, here and there, where blow-up snow men, smiling cheerfully at the shoppers. Some glowed, further lighting the path ahead.
Santa and his sleigh was parked across the movie theater, with a perfect Christmas background for selcas. In addition, a photo booth was erected not too far away from the cinema, there was a long line of if couples who were patiently waiting their turn to snap their set of memories.
It was at that very moment when Jungkook had an epiphany. He would ask her if she wanted to take pictures too! But then shook his head, dismissing the silly idea.
They were just friends.
Christmas decorations hung along every street lamp, with traditional wreaths, velvety red ribbons and golden bells adding a splash of colour to the busy city's white coated infrastructure.
Traditional Christmas carols could be faintly heard in the distance, as the shops that lined the streets played their Christmas playlists on repeat. Carolers strolled the snow covered streets, singing along to popular carols, a red collection tin in hand for the Church Christmas party.
After hearing 'It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas' blare from the speaker closest to him for what must now have been the tenth time, Jungkook began to grow more and more anxious.
Panic began to slowly plague his heart.
'Where is she?' He thought. 'It's been at least forty-five minutes already!'
Jungkook's thoughts where beginning to get the better of him. He'd been pacing the front of the cinema court for the last half an hour, patiently waiting for his friend, Yoonah.
She's usually an early bird and never delayed with anything. If ever, it was he, Jeon Jungkook who was usually late for any of their friendly "dates".
Jungkook found an empty bench and took a seat. He closed his eyes, in an attempt to still his wandering thoughts.
'What if something bad had happened to her?' Jungkook pulled his cellphone out of his pocket and dialled her number.
He knew he should have listened to his gut and fetched her himself! Taking the bus or tram was sometimes not as safe as it was advertised to be.
Besides, he couldn't help being a little more possessive over her. Though he hid it well, Jungkook genuinely loved his friend. He was in love with her - ever since the day she burst into his life with a splash of colour and joy.
