"Wasn't it beautiful, what we had?" he said to her.

She replied "it was, it was everything I wanted".    "So why did it end", he proclaimed with a sadness he felt for the first time in years.

"I wish I could tell you, I guess we all have to wake up from our dreams", holding back a tear that refused to shy away.

"I tried so hard, do you know that? You gave up on me, on us, on our dream", he said.

"I didn't, I tried and tried and tried till I couldn't anymore. You don't know how much I cried that day", she fought back. He replied with silence.

And it just wasn't that day, she cried throughout their time together, praying to God that the demons would go away. Because somedays their dream would resemble a nightmare.

"You deserved better. I failed, time and time again. But I loved you and I wanted to make it work. I tried and all I asked for was a chance" he said with desperation.

"I gave you a chance! I gave you all of them! Every dagger you shoved in my heart, I turned into a rose. I waited and came back, because I knew you were better than that".

"We both deserved better", he mumbled. "Why does God show us the sweetest of dreams, yet pulling them away when it starts becoming so real?"

"Sometimes they're too good to be true", she sighed. "Maybe in another life our fate won't play this twisted game".

The alarm beeped. He woke up and got out of bed. She wasn't there and he was all alone. I guess it truly was just a dream, so he went back to sleep.
