Just five more minutes before launch. Just five more minutes. I couldn't contain the excitement in my body. In five minutes, Atlas would release on the Dream Abyss console. It was the talk of the town with its revolutionary open-world and its storyline. It only launched here in the United-States as a test before launching its world-wide. I got my Dream Abyss for my birthday from my aunt and didn't use it much since no game really piqued my interest, but with Atlas coming out, I was ecstatic to play it. My sister was next to me, looking at the helmet with envy. She wanted to try it as well, but mom said I would try it out first since I was older. One minute left. I stood up from my seat and walked towards the console. I turned it on, ready to put the helmet on. The way the Dream Abyss works is very similar to a typical VR headset, but it resembled more a motorcycle helmet than goggles. You also need to put on electro stickers on your body to simulate different feelings such as pain and there was a mist released for different types of smell. You inserted small headphones for the best audio quality. When inside a game, the whole experience can be so immersive that you barely notice the use of the controller. At least, that is how I understood how the console worked.

I put the helmet on, and a window popped up with a menu showing a selection of games available for me to play. Atlas was no longer greyed out and using the small controller in my right hand, I press the button.

I spawned inside a white room with a menu welcoming me to Atlas and to proceed by clicking the screen. I walked towards the screen and proceeded to click on it. The screen fade to black and a window containing the Terms and Conditions popped up, which I then accepted without looking through them. The screen fade to black again and a welcoming voice spoke.

"Welcome to Atlas! We hope you enjoy your time here. A video will follow-up to explain what Atlas is."

The room went black and then suddenly projected me into a vast world. I was floating way up in the sky and then a hologram of a woman showed up in front of me, smiling. She spoke with the same voice as before.

"Welcome User to the world of Atlas. Here you will start as an adventurer and will have to fight your way through countless dungeons and challenges to win the game." She smiled at me without a hint of mischief and slowly disappear into a cloud of diamond. I suddenly felt a sharp pain in the back of my neck, and everything slowly faded away.
