"you look amazing!" cami hugged madelaine as she approached the redhead getting out of her chauffeur van.
the two arrived at the red carpet in paris, france just in time. celebrities and paparazzi were everywhere, lights and cameras whipped all around and the carpet was buzzing with excitement and questions from reporters.
"this is my first paris fashion week, cami!" madelaine giddily laughed, smoothing out her dress as they made their way across the room. nerves were setting in now that they were in the busy atmosphere, but buzzing enthusiasm quickly followed.
"and it's going to be amazing." the dark haired girl promised with a smile, linking arms with her best friend as they entered the carpet.
"madelaine! over here!" "who are you wearing?" "cami, you look amazing tonight!" reporters shouted from all directions as the girls made their way down. they answered some questions, posed for the cameras and said hello to the friendly faces walking the carpet with them.
"thanks for talking with us madelaine, enjoy fashion week!" an interviewer concluded her round of questions at the end of the line.
madelaine smiled as she began to exit the carpet, but a soft touch on her shoulder made her stop and turn around. in front of her stood drew starkey, one of her soon-to-be costars for outer banks.
"hi," drew smiled at the girl, his hand dropping from her shoulder to her forearm as he leaned closer, making sure that she could hear him amidst the loud atmosphere. his touch was delicate, much different than the rough bad boy persona he played on tv.
"drew! hi! it's so nice to meet you." madelaine offered a wide grin as she took in his appearance.
he wore a dark pullover with matching dress slacks. his hair was short from his recent buzzcut and she felt the cold silver rings on his fingers pressed against her skin.
"i saw the announcement of your character today, so i thought i'd come introduce myself." he smiled.
"i'm so excited to start filming with you guys," madelaine nodded. "madelyn told me it's a fun group."
"oh yeah, we sure do have fun on set," drew chuckles. "are you here alone?" he questions, knitting his eyebrows together and squinting his eyes a little bit, carefully examining the girls features.
"no no, i'm here with camila. she's around here somewhere." madelaine replies.
"right, camila mendes. i gotta be honest, i've only watched the first season of riverdale, but you guys were great." drew sheepishly smiles as he earns a laugh from the girl.
"i won't hold it against you," she quips. "i should probably go find her though." madelaine thinks out loud as she realizes some photographers were beginning to leave the carpet and head inside. the show must be starting soon.
"sure," drew smiles "and i'll see you back in south carolina next week, right?" he asks to which madelaine nods.
"great. i'm looking forward to it." he smiles, giving her arm a gentle squeeze before taking one last look at her and heading inside.
madelaine watches him slip his hands into his pockets as he walks away. his presence was soon replaced by her friend.
"was that drew starkey? he plays rafe, right?" camila asks, having stolen glances of their conversation from afar.
"yeah, he does." madelaine answered as they followed the crowd inside to the runway.
"you get to be his love interest? boy am i jealous of you." cami raises her eyebrows in excitement for her friend.
madelaine laughs, knocking her shoulder into camila's playfully. "he seems really sweet. i'm sure the rest of the cast is going to be just as great." she says hopefully.
the two girls find their designated seats in the crowd. soon, the lights dim and the music begins to play. the models walk out, showing off new chic designs. it was a beautiful show that madelaine was grateful she had the privilege of being invited to this year.
