Title: "High-Flying Heat"

It was a slow day at the academy, and Hot Shot was getting restless. He zipped around the training grounds, showing off his latest maneuvers, trying to catch Whirl's attention. She was up in the control tower, not-so-secretly watching, though she’d never admit it. Finally, he caught her eye, grinning as he transformed into his hover mode, ready to pull off something wild.

“Whirl, did you see that?” he called up, confidence pouring out of him. “I’m on fire today!”

Whirl rolled her optics, crossing her arms. “Yeah, yeah, flame-boy. But can you actually handle real speed? I bet I can still fly circles around you without breaking a—uh, bolt,” she smirked.

Hot Shot’s jaw dropped. “Oh, you did not just go there. Fine, let’s see what you got!”

She accepted the challenge with a grin and transformed, bolting into the air. Hot Shot chased after her, determined to keep up, weaving through obstacles and showing off every trick he had in his arsenal. They went back and forth, both of them pushing it to the max until, finally, Whirl edged him out with a ridiculous, corkscrew maneuver that left him dizzy.

He slowed, shaking his head. “D-dang, Whirl. You’re good... almost too good. Makes me wonder if you’re cheating somehow.”

Whirl laughed, floating down beside him with a cocky smirk. “Not my fault you can’t keep up, Hot Shot. Just admit it—I’m better. Doesn’t hurt to be honest, you know?”

Hot Shot scoffed. “Honest? Oh, scrap that. You’ve just got better gear, that's all!” He jabbed his thumb toward her rotors. "It's basically unfair."

Whirl leaned in, her face close to his. “Excuses, excuses. Maybe if you stop whining for two seconds, you’d have a chance.”

“Oh, yeah?” he shot back, leaning in too. “Maybe if you weren’t so fraggin’ annoying, I wouldn’t have to try so hard to prove you wrong.”

They both froze, faces just inches apart, and a jolt ran through Hot Shot as he felt the tension rise. They stood there, staring each other down, but neither made a move to step back.

“Frag it, Hot Shot,” Whirl whispered, her tone dropping, “you’re impossible…”

But the glint in her optics was anything but annoyed. They lingered just a little longer before Whirl pulled back, turning with a smirk that was way too confident.

“See you next time, slowpoke.” She winked before flying off, leaving Hot Shot speechless and totally thrown.

Okay and that's chapter 1. Don't expect quick updates though.
