Mia POV

"You sure youn just want me to pick something up? I'm passing by an Olive Garden and a Five Guys right now"

"Messiahhh! Stop! I feel like you trynna say you don't
have faith in my food" I said rolling my eyes

"Nah it ain that baby it's just... you said this yo second time cooking for real and ion want you or my son to be hungry later or nun, you feel me?" Messiah reassured

I remained silent on the line before Messiah started snickering. I couldn't help but to start laughing too.

"I hate you Messiah I swear. Worst baby daddy ever" I said shaking my head

"Ay what I tell you bout calling me that"

I blushed and admired the rock that was sitting on my ring finger. "My apologies fiancé. But when you taste this steak don't t be asking me to make it again. Ok?"

"Yea ight, I'm on my way home though. Imma see you when I get there mama, ight?"

"Where you coming from anyway? You don't work on Wednesdays" I questioned.

He had left with Ava this morning at around 10 and his location hadn't been updating all day.

He was silent for a while. I raised my eyebrow at what was taking so long to respond.

"Had to take Ava to get her hair braided, remember?"

"Mmm not really but ok. I'll see you when you get here" I said before hanging up before he could respond.

For the past few days, Messiah had been leaving for hours at a time, always with some new excuse. Yesterday it was to play the numbers for his mom. But I knew better. I'd been around her enough to know she didn't trust anyone else with her lottery numbers — that was something she always handled herself. She'd made it clear more than once that she didn't want anyone "messing up her shit."

So I knew Messiah was lying. He was a terrible liar, and it was written all over his face. He tried to sell it smoothly, like I wouldn't catch on, but I saw right through him.

About 15 minutes passed until I heard the front door open.

"Hey baby" Messiah greeted as he walked over to the kitchen and hugged me from behind and rubbed my belly that was now poking even more

"Hey." I said simply

"Hi Mimi!" Ava excitedly greeted me as she ran over to me and hugged my legs

"Hi Ava baby!" I said as I looked down at her wild, curly hair that was pulled into a puff ball.

As I straightened up, I noticed her hair wasn't braided like Messiah had promised. I furrowed my brow, looking at Messiah, but before I could say anything, he quickly turned and walked into the living room like he hadn't even noticed.

Cj POV

I took a long pull from my blunt as I sat in the spot and watched as Nas and Nico played 2k.

A knock at the door broke my train of thought. I got up and went to answer it, expecting nothing more than the random hoe I'd texted earlier to swing through.

"Wassup," I said as I opened the door, giving her a quick once-over.

"Heyyy CJ, you look good," she complimented
