Waking up early in the morning Juliet placed her bruised feet on the cold wooden floor. Not only had she woken up at 5:00 but was already getting ready for her ballet practice later today.
She headed to the shop to get a new pair of pointe shoes. She went the new shop down the road which was quite pricy from what she had heard. She hoped they were good quality. As some people, she thought the more expensive the better.
As she entered the shop to her predictions all the shoes looked excellently made. Each with no loose strings and everything was very secure.
Suddenly, she felt a cold hand on her shoulder.
She jumped at the sudden gesture of the old lady behind her.
The woman was about 80 and was very short in size, though wearing slightly platformed shoes. She wore a knitted scarf and a beige cardigan.
"Hello dear, is there anything specific you're looking for?"
"Oh um, not really, ha" Juliet replied softly.
"I'll tell you what" the lady readjusted her dainty glasses.
"I can get you a pair for free!"
"Really!? Are you sure?" Juliet exclaimed in excitement.
"yes deary, I'll show you them now!"
The old frail woman bent over into the back room of the shop which seemed to be a storage room with all the boxes that were In there.
She passed a pink Lacey box with white ribbons carefully placed on the sides. It was much different to the rest of the boxes. The old woman looked back at me and quickly closed the storage rooms door.
As Juliet opened the box, she was greeted with a pair of beautiful pointe shoes. Carefully crafted. With embellishments hand sewn into the fabric. The ribbon was attached. But she had a good feeling about these shoes. They were unusually pretty.
"Let's see if it fits" the lady interrupted.
Juliet slid on the shoe and the ribbons fitted perfectly almost like something magical!
Not only did they fit perfectly but they started to feel just right even though not broken into.
"Oh my gosh! These are perfect!!!"
The old lady replied with a warm smile.
"You should get going dear, to your lesson!"
Huh? Juliet thought that was odd but she thoroughly thanked the woman for her kindness and closed the door behind her. The woman waved goodbye and Juliet waved back.
It was time for ballet class, perfectly 10 minutes of travel time and 15 minutes before stretch! Today was turning out perfect.
With the shoe box in hand she stuffed it into her bag as she rushed onto the last train.
And a warm feeling grew in her heart.
What a great morning.
