~~~Lexi's pov~~~
My mom walks by each gingerbread house deciding which one she likes best for the winner.
No I already know what you're probably thinking, why doesn't everyone get to be the winner?
My answer is simple, but might ruffle some feathers.
Not everyone wins in life so it's better for them to learn the concept early so they understand everything as they get older.
Sure the younger kids might be disappointed, but honestly they're too happy to eat their gingerbread houses to care who wins.
And besides there's nothing wrong with accepting disappointment because it's a part of life so you might as well get used to it.
Growing up my parents didn't coddle my brother and I, but they weren't the tough love parents either.
They were right in the middle, and honestly I'm happy I grew up like that because there's so many adults who will throw a straight up tantrum if they don't get their way.
It's sad.
"Ok, I've made my decision. As I think everyone's design is great, there's one that stands out the best. Liam is the winner, I love how he made an ice skating rink with the little gingerbread men playing hockey, with the hockey sticks made of pretzels" She said.
I look over at Liv and Parker and see they go over to Liam to congratulate him.
My brother and Kristen raised the boys similar to how my brother and I were raised so that's why you're seeing good sportsmanship instead of a tantrum.
The kids grab their gingerbread houses and bring them into the living room to watch a movie and eat their creations.
"Ok, you guys have 2 hours, good luck!" She said.
Hudson and I sit at the table and think about what we're gonna do.
I look at Hudson. "Ok, so gingerbread house strip club. We can put a candy can in front of the house representing the north pole that can also be used as a stripper pole and like I said earlier we can use the green fruit roll-ups as the money."
He scoots closer making my stomach dip. "Perfect, and I was thinking we could make a sign that ties into the gingerbread theme, a little play on names because people like little details" He said.
I nodded. "Ok, what about ginger snaps?"
He smiled. "Perfect. Ok, is there a specific way we should decorate the house?" He asked.
I bite my lip thinking. "I don't know, maybe make it look a little worn, like a scummy strip club. Maybe have like one of the shutters falling off the hinge and make it look like there's a broken window."
"Ok. What do you wanna work on?" He asked.
I love that he's asking what I want to do first.
Another box to check off.
"I'll work on gingerbread men and women and the stripper pole scene."
"Ok, I'll work on whatever little details are needed" He said.
"Perfect."
I reached forward and grab a few gingerbread men and started creating what I want them to look like.
I add Santa hats on the gingerbread women and look through the candy until I find what I'm looking for.
I open a pack of whopper's and cut them in half then stick them to the gingerbread women with the royal icing so she has boobs.
