Chapter 1: The Beginning of Beginnings

Gemini had never been to a real school. Her family taught her what she needed, and she read a lot of scrolls and books. They were taking her to a school—the school of stars. "Gemini, keep up!" called her mother. Gemini sped up so she was right next to her mother, "I wonder what it's going to be like at a boarding school. All the friends I'll make!" Gemini wondered. "Don't get too excited", her mother said. "Why not?" Gemini asked, considering what could be bad about the school. Her mother didn't reply.

"Look, we're here!" her mother called, breaking the silence. Gemini instantly forgot about it and looked at the horizon. Excitement tingled in her, and her brain buzzed with thoughts. She was going to school! She could see the school, the largest island having a massive, building rising high into the sky. It almost looked like a palace. They landed on one of the smaller islands, where they entered a decent-sized building. They were greeted by a large, mud/night hybrid. "Welcome to our school, I'm Mr. Beast, one of your teachers, students go where the white leafwing is, they'll direct you to your dorm, parents head to the main lobby area" he said, sounding like he was forcing himself to be cheery.

"Bye sweetie", her mother said, "Have a great time, and remember to respond to my letters". Gemini looked at her mother, "Goodbye, I'll see you later". Gemini went towards the white leafwing, looking behind her back as her mother went in the opposite direction. "Hi, can I have your name please?". Gemini looked forward and realized that the leafing was talking to her, "um- Gemini". "Nice to meet you, well here's a map, and head to Junior Island and into the warm dorms, you're in dorm air", the leafwing said, giving her a gentle shove in the right direction. 

Gemini leapt into the air and began flying. She could just see an island with two large structures. She assumed the one on the desert side was the warm dorms, and the one on the icy side was the cool dorms. Gemini flew around the warm dorms. Where was the entrance? She landed on the beach, where a dragon who looked like a hybrid skywing was sitting looking at the sea. "um, hello, where is the entrance to the warm dorms" She asked politely. The dragon turned around. "Ha, I've been looking for that too!", the dragon said, "I'm Sagittarius". Gemini liked this dragon already. "I'm Gemini", she said excitedly. 

"So, wanna look for an entrance with me?" Saggitarius asked. Gemini nodded and they took off. It wasn't long before they saw a dragon leave from the top of the tallest spire. "This must be the entrance" Gemini stated. "Maybe they should add a sign" Saggitarius mused. "And what would it say? Blind dragons! Entrance here!" Gemini replied, landing on the platform, "What dorm are you in any way?" "I'm in the fire dorm, what about you" he said. Gemini felt slightly disappointed, "I'm in the air dorm". "oh, see you later I guess," Saggitarius said disappointed. He turned a corner and continued walking. Gemini so badly wanted to follow him. But should she? What if she got in trouble? Maybe later.

Gemini found a door that said air dorm on it. It must be her's. She stepped in and looked around. It was quite large. It consisted of three rooms, the main one, and two on either side. Gemini saw a door that said her name on it. It also said Libra. She walked in and looked at the two beds in there. One looked like it was made for her. It had a few blankets and a comfy-looking sand mattress. The other bed was occupied by an unusually colourful icewing reading a scroll. "Uh, hello, I'm Gemini," She said politely. The dragon looked slightly surprised, "I'm Libra". They didn't have long to chat as a dragon crashed into the main room. "HELLO!!!!!" the dragon called. Gemini and Libra both walked to the main to see who it was.

A very green seawing had just burst through the door. "What?!? I'm stuck with a bunch of girls?!? C'mon!" He said. "Hi, I'm Libra, very nice to meet you," Libra said sarcastically. "I'm Gemini" Gemini enthusiastically said."I'm Aquarius," he said, probably realising what a rude introduction he had just done. "Sorry, I was just expecting to be with some boys," Aquarius said apologetically. Gemini thought that he should do better to hide his disappointment. "We'll have more boys in our winglet," Gemini said. Aquarius looked like he had forgotten that. Libra started walking towards the door, "I'll shut the door" she said and Gemini began wondering if she was expecting someone else to get it. There was a silent pause. "Soooooo, did you see that teacher, Mr Beast?" Aquarius asked, breaking the silence. "Yes, he is probably going to be the most boring teacher on the planet" Gemini answered. "Hope we don't get him as a teacher," he said back. "Yeesh, you just jinxed us, we're doomed to have him," Libra said. They all began laughing.

Gemini was enjoying the school so much. She already had a bunch of friends and they haven't even started classes! What could have mother meant when she said don't get too excited? Gemini decided to forget what her mother said. She had everything she could possibly want. Friends, a massive school, a bunch of new opportunities, and an amazing bed. Gemini was going to meet everyone in her winglet tomorrow. What could go wrong?
