A/N I was going to call this chapter a dragon's reckoning, but that suits the next chapter better. Hope you enjoy this one all the same.

Caboose was not sure where he was. One moment. Everywhere he looked seemed to be an empty void of nothingness.

“Huh. This is not where I was last.”

Greetings warrior.

A deep voice echoes all around him. Caboose looked around trying to find and befriend this new voice.

“Hello voice from the creepy slash unnerving darkness. Have you seen Freckles and miss dragon lady? Her name is Mine lean. Or was it Dine tea? Ice rink?”

Irene.”

“Right! Sorry about that. I just met her and haven't remembered how to properly pronounce her name yet. I used to call a… sort of friend named Tucker, Mucker. I also didn't realize that name was an insult at the time.” Caboose rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment. “Not fun times.”

I bet.”

Suddenly, the void seemed to part as a massive emerge from the darkness.

It was a dragon.

Its giant feet had talons as long as a person was tall. Its legs were as thick as oak. Its body the size of a space shuttle, with a tall half as long. The wings on its back would be bigger than a ships sails. Its head held light grey eyes, with it's scales reflecting a slightly darker shade.

“Oh… my… gosh.” Caboose said in awe.

Yes, I do believe that it is quite terrifying to see a dragon so close-

“You are so cool!”

Beg pardon?

Caboose suddenly appears next to the dragon, looking at the dragon all over.

“I always wanted to see a dragon up close! This is a dream come true.” Caboose exclaims excitedly, as he began to hop in place. “Can I pet your scales please? Please please please please please please please please please please?”

Uh…Sure?” Dragon had no idea what to make of this blue soldier.

Caboose began petting his scales, his body shivering with enthusiasm. The scales were as smooth as stone, yet they had a soft warmness to them. “I had actually wished to be a dragon one time with a birthday wish!”

I'm sorry, what-

“I only got the ability to breathe fire near an already existing flame. Still pretty cool though.” Caboose interrupted again. The dragon knew it was unintentional, yet it was getting annoying.

May I bother you with some questions?” The dragon asked politely.

“Ok!”

Could you please explain to me what you are doing here?

“I don't know.”

The dragon narrowed his eyes at him. “What do you mean you don't know?

“I mean, that I don't know. I was just trying to help Irene by removing her dragon seed so they stop hunting her down.” Caboose explained.

I don't believe that is possible though.

“How do you know that?” Caboose tilted his head to the side.

Ahh! I forgot to introduce myself, haven't I? My apologies.” The dragon apologies as he bows, arm going across his chest. “My name is Belserion. The dragonic advisor to the queen and true ruler of Dragnof.

“... Why is the country just a misspelling of Dragon?”

It could also just mean more for dragging something off.

“That doesn't make it any better. That actually kinda makes it worse, honestly.”

Belserion looked at Caboose for a moment. While he could see his expression, he could read his soul. Something he picked up when he was dealing with some lich a few centuries ago. Momo something or other.

However he could tell that Caboose was an innocent soul, yet something remained deeper within. As if his body was suppressing a part of his soul.

Curious.

The name was mostly due to the alliance between humans and dragons at the time. Probably meaning peace in their ancient language.

“How ancient?”

Before I was born.

“That's ancient.”

Indeed. Now back to the matter at hand.” Belserion began circling around Caboose. “Why are you trying to mess with the queen's soul?

“Is that where the seed is? Man, that's going to be tough to get.” Caboose said as he brought a hand to his chin in thought.

Dragon magic is incredibly powerful. Especially when a dragon boost a human to their level.” Belserion said, his eyes never leaving Caboose's form.

“So that's how they got the seeds in them.” Caboose said in realization. “They couldn't keep calm!”

Oh?

“Well, earlier, Irene's body was covering half her body in scales and stuff. But after I started to make her feel better, they started to fall off and reveal human skin underneath!” Caboose explains, “So if I can keep helping her get better mentally, then she will never have to worry about being turn into something awesome against her will ever again!”

Belserion widen his eyes in surprise. He theorized that the dragon seeds grew because of mental instability, but he didn't have the to prove it because of the dragon war. If only he defeated Acnologia, then he could have save Irene from her apparent fate.

Belserion shook his head. Now was not the time for self loathing. He had to help his best friend.

Then I must ask why you have entered Irene's mind. If you could already help her on the outside, then why come here?

“Oh, well. Her evil husband who's been torturing her for a few years has us surrounded and she began to panic. So I used my emotions to magic my way in here!”

... That was a lot of things you just threw at me.

“I'm sorry. I wish I could try to explain it more, but we don't have time! We got to save the dragon lady from having her belly cut open because of an evil king!” Caboose exclaims heroically.

Belserion stared at him for a few seconds. Too Much was happening too fast for him to get a grasp on what he should do. So he'll have to do what he did in his youth.

Go with the flow, and make up some sort of plan on the spot.

Not the craziest thing he has done in all honesty.

Very well. Let me fly you to where the dragon seed is then.” Belserion said, lowering one of his wings to the ground.

“I get to ride a dragon to save a princess!? Hooray!” Caboose exclaims excitedly.

She's actually a queen.

“Eh, Tomato Tomato.” Caboose says nonchalantly as he got onto Belserion.

Belserion had to blink at what he just said. “Did… did you just tomato twice?

“Not important. Onwards Bell-shire-eon! To victory!” Caboose shouted out as loudly as possible.

Belserion sighs as he takes off. This was either going to be his best or worst decision ever.

Either way, at least he could save his old friend.
