Today started off as any perfect spring break day should: me in my gaming chair, headset on, and the guys online, ready to dive into another epic session. We were in the middle of a game, shouting over each other about who needed backup and who was hogging all the loot, when Lo suddenly paused and said, "Hey, I just thought of something."
Now, when Lo starts a sentence like that, it could mean anything from genius to absolute disaster. Spoiler: today, it was the latter.
"So, what if we try something crazy? Like, a challenge where we have to go outside and do the 'park bench parkour'?" Lo said, clearly proud of himself. Let me explain: "park bench parkour" is Lo's brilliant (read: reckless) idea of jumping from one bench to another at the park without touching the ground. It's like a game of The Floor Is Lava, except it's the middle of a public park, and we're 14-year-old guys who should probably know better.
Ben was the first to agree, naturally. He lives for this kind of thing. Leo chimed in with, "You know, this is going to end with someone face-planting, right?" But even he was up for it. And me? Well, if all my friends are doing it, I can't exactly be the one to sit out and say, "Nah, I'm just going to keep gaming." So I said, "Alright, I'm in. This is going to be either legendary or a complete fail."
So tomorrow's plan is set: park bench parkour, aka the dumbest idea Lo has had all year. And knowing us, it's going to be epic, even if we all end up with grass-stained shirts and bruised egos. Spring break, here we go.
