Of course ulani wasn't gonna pass up the chance to learn karate. So that is her only excuse for why her and her twin brother were standing in front of Johnny in silence.
"So, are we gonna get the karate pajamas too?" Miguel asked "QUIET" Johnny yelled "ok" Miguel said "the student only speaks when spoken to. Is that understand" the older man said "yes" ulani and Miguel both said "yes sir?" Miguel said "always address me as sensei is that understood?" Johnny said.
"Yes sensei" the twins said "these aren't pajamas. This is a gi. And you'll get one when you've earned it. Ready to being training?" Johnny said "yes sensei" the twins said again then Johnny knocked Miguel to his feet "oh my god" Miguel groaned out and ulani laughed "lesson one strike first. What you laughing at buttercup. Never wait for the enemy to attack" Johnny said and ulani just shrugged.
"You could have gave me, like, a warning" Miguel said and Johnny yelled again "QUIET. We do not train to be merciful here. Mercy is for the weak" then Miguel used his inhaler. "Here in the street, in competition, a man confronts you, he is the enemy. An enemy deserves no mercy. What is the problem Mr. Diaz?" Johnny continued.
"There's no problem, sensei. You.. you punched me, and I have asthma, so.." then Miguel was cut off by Johnny grabbing the inhaler and throwing it at the wall "not anymore. We do not allow weakness in this dojo. So, you can leave your asthma and your peanut allergies and all that other made-up bullshit outside. Understood?" Johnny said "yes but those are real medical problems. I was.." then he paused when Johnny gave him a stern look "yes,sensei, understood" Miguel finshed.
"Cobra Kai isn't just about karate. It's about a way of life. Take that first lesson striking first is the initial step towards victory. Ok? Like when you're at a party and you see a hot babe or dude" he said looking over at ulani "yeah" Miguel replied and ulani just shrugged.
"You don't wait for another guy or girl to talk to them first, do you?" The older man asked "I mean, we've never been to a party, so..." Miguel said "big surprise. All right, look. Striking first is about being aggressive, all right? If your not aggressive, your being a pussy, and you don't wanna be a pussy. you wanna have balls." Johnny said.
"Don't you think you're doing a lot of genderizing?" Miguel asked "what?" The older man looked confused "oh sorry. Don't you think you're doing a lot of genderizing, sensei?" Miguel rephrased. Then ulani zoned out and didn't hear the rest of their conversation.
Then she noticed Miguel don't push ups and snapped out of it. "Am I supposed to do those to or..." ulani said "yea and don't do no girl push ups" Johnny said and ulani groaned and then started getting ready to do push ups and Miguel fell out before she could even start. "All right, just do some crunches. Don't you have gym class or something?" He said "yea ok" Miguel said and ulani and him started doing crunches then a man walked in.
