As Taylor started the car, you couldn't help but ask her once more what she had planned tonight.
"Tay, will you please tell me where we're going?"
She backed the car out of the driveway before looking at you with a smile and shaking her head.
"Not a chance, darling. You're just going to have to wait until we get there to find out."
About ten minutes ago, she told you that you needed to get ready to go because she wanted to go out for a few minutes.
You were surprised because your original plans with Taylor tonight were supposed to be just relaxing and watching some holiday movies.
Neither of you really wanted to go anywhere or at least that was the plan.
But you're not complaining.
In fact, you feel excited to see what she's got up her sleeve.
You reached over to turn on the radio and turned the volume up as Winter Wonderland played.
"Sleigh bells ring are you listening? In the lane, snow is glistening. A beautiful sight, we're happy tonight. Walking in a winter wonderland." You sang and Taylor happily joined in on the last line, both of you laughing and having fun together on the drive.
About ten minutes later, she pulled into a parking spot.
You could see that you were in the parking lot of a coffee shop and you looked at Taylor with a curious look.
"What are we doing here? Coffee this late?"
"No." She smiled and unbuckled her seatbelt. "Come on, you'll find out."
You unbuckled your seatbelt too before getting out of the car.
Taylor took your hand as you made your way to the doors of the coffee shop and when you stepped inside, you saw that the entire place was decorated with different Christmas things.
Snowflakes, a Christmas tree with ornaments on it in the corner, bells on the door, and stockings all around.
It was warm and cozy.
"Hello! Can I help you?" The employee asked as you and Taylor went up to order.
"Two hot chocolates please."
Taylor quickly paid for the drinks while another worker began to make them.
"Find a table, baby,"
You excitedly made your way over to a table by the window and Taylor carried the two mugs of hot chocolate over before sitting down across from you.
"I know this might not be the most exciting surprise but I figured we could have a hot chocolate date."
"Tay, it is exciting!"
"I know we have hot chocolate at home but-"
"That's different. I understand what you mean. This is just as amazing. I love getting to spend time with you and a hot chocolate date is such a sweet idea; no pun intended."
She laughed before taking a sip of her drink.
You did the same and when you pulled away, she couldn't help but laugh again.
"What?"
"You have whipped cream on your nose." She grinned.
You went to wipe it away from the tip of your nose but Taylor beat you to it by reaching out and playfully booping your nose, making the whipped cream come off of your nose and on her finger.
"You looked very adorable. I couldn't help myself."
You just shook your head with a smile and looked around.
"It's so warm and so festive. I like it in here."
"Me too. I love this time of year." She replied before you both sipped on the hot beverages, careful not to burn your tongues. "I was thinking that we could decorate the tree when we get home."
"I would love that!" You excitedly said. "Can we look at some Christmas lights on the way home? Maybe we can take an hour or so and just look at all of the houses that have decorations out already."
"On one condition..." She paused and you looked at her with a very intrigued gaze. "We have to sing Christmas songs the entire time."
Your eyes sparkled and she knew you were more than okay with that.
Reaching across the table, you took her fingers into yours and admired the way that her nails were painted with Christmas colors; red and green and oh-so beautiful.
"I know things have been crazy lately. Even though the eras tour is over now, I know I've still been writing and working a little but it's the holiday season. I want to push everything else off and focus on us for a while. I want to cherish this season with you."
"Okay." You happily replied. "It's the most wonderful time of the year, baby. There's nothing I want more than to be with you and only you."
She leaned in, hoping you'd meet her halfway for a kiss.
And you did... at first.
Because just as her lips were about to touch yours, you brushed some whipped cream right against her nose and you laughed joyously as she pulled away with a gasp.
"You're so lucky that you're so cute and that I love you so much."
"I'm so very lucky." You whispered. "So looking at lights and decorating the tree tonight. What do we do tomorrow?"
You looked at each other for only a second before speaking in unison,
"Bake cookies!"
You both laughed and sipped on your warm drinks until they were all gone, both of you enjoying the cozy and joyful time of the year.
It is the best time of the year after all and you're so excited to spend every second of it with Taylor as you do different holiday-themed things together and cherish the warm, festive atmosphere all month long.
