My Meal

It screams

It wails

But I am patient

I will wait

I take the key from the table and hide it in a drawer

I will not let it out

No matter how much it pleads

My stomach growls

But I will survive until then

Until my dinner is ready

I'm intelligent like that

I'd rather wait until my meal is bigger than eat it now

I look at my catch through ravenous eyes

The hunger is blinding

It has eyes of chocolate

The ruddy skin promising me the most delectable meat underneath

That just makes my waiting all the more difficult

I will not feel bad

For putting it in a cage

For torturing it

For savoring it's fear

The tears are a flavoring of a most delicious salt

I will not feel bad

For eating it's parents

For doing so in front of it

For licking my lips and using a bone to pick my teeth

They were delectable

I am not human

It is

I am in power

It is not

There are days when it screams especially loud

I am not concerned

It has started rapidly growing

My mouth waters at the sight of such meat forming

I can hardly wait to silence it's screams

Today is a loud day

But today is The Day

I lick my lips

Pull out my sword

Stick it through the bars

And watch as my meal takes it's last shuddering breath
