It finally happened. After days of pacing, scrolling, and staring at the ceiling like it would somehow beam an idea into my brain, I actually came up with a science fair project idea. And not just any idea—one that might actually make people say, "Whoa, Max did that?"
The breakthrough came during lunch. Leo, Lo, and I were sitting in our usual spot, halfway talking about how lame gym class was when Lo suddenly said, "Wouldn't it be cool if you could power a lightbulb with something weird, like oranges or something?"
At first, I laughed, because Lo and his random thoughts are practically a law of nature. But then it clicked. What if I did a project on alternative sources of electricity? Not just potatoes or lemons—the usual suspects—but something that would really grab attention.
After school, I raced home and dove into research mode. Turns out, you can generate electricity from all sorts of things: saltwater, pickles, even soil. My brain was on fire with possibilities, each idea bigger and more bizarre than the last. I finally settled on testing which household items could generate the most electricity and explaining why they worked.
The best part? It's ambitious enough that people (ahem, Alyssa) would notice, but simple enough that I could actually pull it off without accidentally electrocuting myself. Now all I need to do is gather the supplies and get to work.
For once, I feel like I might not be in full-on panic mode the night before the deadline. But knowing me, there's still time for that.
