Ye Wenxin composed herself, raised the teacup again, and sniffed the aroma, accurately identifying the herb within.

"It contains Yin Dan Cao (Silver Mint)."

"And what is Yin Dan Cao's effect?" Ling Jue asked, surprised. She had expected Ye Wenxin to have some proficiency in alchemy, but not such expertise in herbology. To avoid an overflow of students in the Alchemy Courtyard, she had chosen an obscure herb.

"It has both culinary and medicinal uses. The stems and leaves are edible, and it can be juiced. Yin Dan Cao can be used as a seasoning, spice, or mixed in drinks and teas," Ye Wenxin explained precisely. On Earth, Yin Dan Cao is known as mint.

Ling Jue's lips curled slightly in satisfaction at Ye Wenxin's answer. Yet, she realized she couldn't be too lenient with Ye Wenxin. The kinder she was, the less Ye Wenxin respected her.

"Well, Sister Ling, did I pass?" Ye Wenxin feigned a pitiful look, knowing Ling Jue's anger had mostly dissipated, hoping to sway her further.

"This is just the first question. Now close your eyes, and I'll give you something to taste. Guess what it is," Ling Jue continued coldly, ignoring Ye Wenxin's plea.

Ye Wenxin closed her eyes as instructed, but instead of feeling something touch her lips, a cloth was placed over her eyes.

"Sister, isn't this a bit much for a guessing game?" Ye Wenxin chuckled. She had learned a skill to see clearly even with her eyes closed, making Ling Jue's actions seem unnecessary.

"It's for fairness," Ling Jue insisted, waving her hand in front of the cloth to ensure Ye Wenxin couldn't see, before retrieving a fruit from her qiankun pouch.

"This is a mountain fruit."

"This is a holy bodhi fruit."

But everything she tasted was not herbs but spirit fruits.

Ye Wenxin was speechless, realizing Ling Jue was playfully teasing her. Yet, the delicious taste of the fruits kept her from revealing the truth.

"Open wide."

Following Ling Jue's words, a round pill entered her mouth, dissolving with a sweet taste, warming her dantian.

"A fifth-level Qi Refining Pill!" Ye Wenxin exclaimed, recognizing the flavor.

However, as an advanced alchemist, Ling Jue shouldn't be able to craft fifth-level pills, which only a master alchemist could create. But the sensation in her mouth confirmed its authenticity.

"You even know that," Ling Jue was genuinely surprised. She had planned to surprise Ye Wenxin, unaware she had already tasted such pills.

"Uh, tried it once," Ye Wenxin admitted sheepishly. As the Demon Lord, her snacks were at least fifth-level pills, and she had even kidnapped master alchemists for concoctions. But such confessions were impossible to share with Ling Jue.

"Was it that girl Long Qing'er?" Ling Jue frowned, considering the people Ye Wenxin knew at Cangyu Sect, concluding Long Qing'er was the only one who could casually provide fifth-level pills.

"Yes, Sister Long," Ye Wenxin nodded in agreement, relieved that Ling Jue and Long Qing'er disliked each other, making her lie less likely to be exposed.
