Sunday, June 2

Sundays are usually boring, but today felt different. With only five days left until the end of the school year, there was this weird mix of excitement and dread in the air. I could practically hear the clock ticking down.

I woke up late again, and for once, Sammy wasn't blasting noise through the entire house. He was on the couch, glued to his tablet, probably watching those weird videos of people unboxing toys or whatever. I took that as a rare moment of peace and snuck into the kitchen for breakfast. Just as I was shoving a spoonful of cereal into my mouth, Mom walked in and gave me that look — the one that says she has a million chores for me to do.

"Max, before the week starts, can you please tidy up your room?" she said. I wanted to argue, but considering it looked like a tornado had passed through, I figured I'd better comply.

After a couple of hours pretending to clean while actually just reorganizing my gaming setup, I got bored and texted the guys. We decided to meet up at Leo's place because his mom always has the best snacks. When I got there, it was classic chaos: Lo was already digging through the snack drawer, Leo was trying to set up his game console, and Ben was yelling at us to hurry up so we could play a round before his older brother kicked us off.

We spent the next few hours talking about our summer plans, which somehow turned into a heated debate about who could ride the most roller coasters at the local amusement park without puking. Lo swore up and down that he was fearless, but we all knew he screamed like a baby on the Ferris wheel last year.

By the time I got home, it was already dark. I flopped down on my bed and stared at the ceiling, thinking about how weird it's going to be when summer finally hits. No more homework, no more school stress — just three whole months of freedom. But until then, there's still one week left to survive.

And knowing my friends and me, it's going to be anything but normal.
