5.Dinner in the great hall

"Where did Astrid do well today?" Gobber quizzed as he put the chicken on the table.

"She answered questions right and was focused and quick on her feet," Espen said. This made Astrid blush profusely once again and me gleefully smirking at her.

"Right where did astrid go wrong today?"
Gobber asked.

"I miss timed my somersalt dive it was sloppy it threw of my reverse tumble," Astrid answered.

"Yeah we noticed," Ruff said carelessly not paying much attention.

Just the the great hall doors opened and Hiccup walked in completely soaked I raised an eyebrow.

Snotlout said "No dont that was so great it was so Astrid,"

I snickered at this and Astrid elbowed me to shut up.

"No shes right you have to be tough on yourselves! Where did hiccup go wrong? Gobber asked.

"He showed up," Ruff said. I rolled my eyes.

"He didn't get eaten," Tuff suggested.

"Oof!" I muttered to Espen.
He chuckled at this though.

"He's never where he should be." Astrid announced harshly just as he walked by.

"Thank you Astrid!" Gobber said. Oof harsh.

"On a better note who did best in the ring today?" Gobber asked.

Oh no, now you see I was proud but I didn't want all the attention.

Astrid smirked enjoying my discomfort "Cas," she answered.

"Yes and what did she do well?" Gobber further questioned.

"She practically saved my life and hiccups, skill fully." My brother said.

"Well done Espen!" Gobber said.

"Where did she do wrong?" Gobber asked now.

Everyone shrugged.

"When I moved away from the dragon after I slashed it's back leg I could have been faster," I replied.

"No I think you did great babe," Snotlout said I winced at this when he turned to grab more chicken I made a throwing up face to Astrid and she fell into silent fits of laughter.

"You need to live and breath this stuff, the dragon manual. Everything we know about every dragon we know of. No attacks tonight hurry up." Gobber said walking out the great hall.

"Wait we read?" Tuff asked.

"While we're still alive?" Ruff finished.

"Why read words when you can just kill the stuff the words tell you stuff about!" Snotlout banged the table making me knock my water over and I scowled at him.
He noticed my smile and said "Sorry babes." I made a disgusted face towards Astrid and she snickered.

"Oh i've read it about 7 times theres this water dragon that sprays boiling water at your face and and theres this other one that like berrys itself for a week-" Fishlegs rambled luckily he was cut off by Tuff who said "Yeah that sounds great and there was a chance I was gonna read it..."

"But now?..." Ruff finished trailing her sentence off.

"You guys read i'll go kill stuff!" Snotlout announced winking at me and Astrid getting up we both winced and said "Ick!"

There was muttering from the others who stood up and left. My brother, Espen, went to the table in front of us grabbing our siblings (He had already read the book a thousand times so he didn't need to read it again) and getting ready to walk out Dag came over passing an asleep Freyr to me. I smiled softly and Astrid cooed "Awww," as Freyr snuggled up to me. The others left and Astrid pilled our stuff up at the end of the table.

I saw Hiccup had finished he started walking over I scoffed and Astrid sat down next to me again.

"So I guess we'll share?" Hiccup suggested.

"Read it," Astrid said pushing the book towards him getting up and she started walking to the entrance she would wait for me outside.

"S...so...um...we'll-" He stuttered out.

I visibly rolled my eyes and I saw his face fall slightly. Good. He was annoying and if he liked me heck no!

"I need to go put Freyr to bed," I responded blankly. Standing up and walking out.

"Right well all mine then so uh uh okay i'll see you - uh tomorrow-"Hiccup said as I walked out deadpan ignoring him.

"Ugh!" I said, "That was awful why did you leave me in there?"

Astrid cackled "O my Thor did you see his face when you rolled your eyes he looked heart broken?" She was laughing so much she was bent over gasping for breath. "And you just fully turned him down like..." She continued laughing. "Oh my Thor he definitely is heart broken and sobbing right now I bet!"  

I had a bored and irritated facial expression with a scowl too. I slapped the upside of her head to stop her rambling.

"OWWW!" My blonde headed friend yelled rubbing the back of her head. "Okay. I'll stop." She sighed disappointed.

We started walking back to our houses and after a few minutes of silence I said "So whats with you and Espin?" A smirk tugged at the corner off my lips. Astrid started blushing and mumbled, "Nothing..." Very quietly.

"Really then why are you blushing right now?" I quizzed smirking widely when her face turned a bright shade of red.

"Maybe. Maybe I might have a slight crush on him but I am not going to do anything about it." She replied.

"Ew!" I exclaimed grimacing. "Espin ick! Ewwww."

"Hey!" Astrid punched my arm I was used to it by now so it didn't hurt.

"Astrid and Espen sailing on a boat, Hunting for dragons to show off and gloat, When they come back everyone thinks that they should wed,
Because on the boat ride they had some fun in bed!" I sang.

"Shut up!" Astrid said her face turning red. "Sing it any louder for the whole village to hear." She hissed urgently.

"Okay then," I said taking a deep breath before bellowing out "ASTRID AND-" I was cut of by Astrid's hand flying to my mouth shutting me up. Her face desperate. I licked her hand "Ew!" She exclaimed.

"Wish it was Espen instead?" I asked smirking once again.

"Oh shut up!" She said but she was smiling.

She started laughing which made me start too. And soon we were cackling down the road to our houses.

When we got there Astrid said "Remember not a word, please?" She begged.

"Yes. I promise," I said linking pinkies with her, "Your secret is safe with me."

"Night!" She said.

"Night." I whispered going into my home Freyr still sleeping soundlessly on my hip.
