The hospital hall was quieter now, the chaos finally subsiding.
Patients were stable, and the staff could take a breather.
Amidst the calming scene, Devam and Vrinda stood a few feet apart, their eyes locked in a silent conversation.
There was no need for words-their gazes spoke of unspoken gratitude, admiration, and something deeper that neither dared to name.
Vrinda's team, however, was in shock.
Their strict, no-nonsense boss, ACP Vrinda, who maintained a fortress around her emotions, was now standing in front of a doctor, looking at him with an intensity they had never seen.
Shinde, her ever-curious teammate, leaned closer to his colleague and whispered, "Lagta hai madam ki chot sidha dimaag pe asar hui hai."
The other teammate snorted, replying, "Haan yaar, aaj pehli baar madam, madam nahi... ladki jaisi lag rahi hai."
Shinde frowned and retorted, "Abe, toh madam ladki hi hai! Tujhe kya, aadmi lagi thi?"
The teammate shrugged, smirking. "Nahi yaar, madam itni strict hai na... unse feminine wali vibes nahi aati. Lekin aaj, jaise vo uss doctor ko dekh rahi hai... aisa lag raha hai madam ko pyar ho gaya hai."
Shinde grinned mischievously. "Acchi baat hai. Hume free mein treatment mil jaaya karega. Soch, agar yeh doctor madam ka pati ban gaya, toh hume kitna faida hoga. Kabhi chot lage, toh sidha inke paas aa jaane ka. Free mein ilaaj kar denge!"
The other teammate chuckled. "Baat toh teri sahi hai. Kitna maza aayega-ek logon ki haddiyan jodega, aur dusra todega!"
They stifled their laughter, earning themselves a sharp glare from Vrinda, which had them scattering in different directions like frightened pigeons.
Meanwhile, Devam finally broke the intense eye contact, his lips curling into a small smile.
Vrinda, always the professional, straightened and asked, "Is everything under control, Doctor?"
Devam nodded, his smile deepening. "Yes, Miss ACP, lekin ek cheez control mein nahi hai."
Vrinda frowned slightly, tilting her head. "Kya?"
Devam placed a hand on his chest, his tone playful yet sincere. "Mera dil. Jabse aapki in khubsoorat aankhon se pala pada hai, yeh kambakht out of control ho gaya."
Vrinda's breath hitched.
She blinked, caught off guard by his words.
Her stomach felt like a carnival of butterflies had invaded, performing a dance recital.
Her mouth parted slightly as if to say something, but no words came out.
Seeing her flustered expression, Devam took a step closer, leaning in.
Vrinda's team members, ever the nosy ones, leaned closer too, trying to eavesdrop.
In a low voice meant only for her, Devam whispered, "Aapki jab aise bolti band ho jaati hai, mujhe bahut accha lagta hai. It feels so good to know I can make you speechless."
Vrinda's face turned slightly pink, her heart pounding, but before she could respond, she noticed her team shamelessly trying to listen.
She snapped her gaze toward them, her eyes narrowing into a glare that could rival a storm.
Instantly, her team straightened up, saluting out of habit, and quickly dispersed to avoid her wrath.
Devam chuckled, his deep laughter breaking the tension. "Ohh, ACP sahiba, aapka param mitra phir se aa gaya."
