After that meeting, Alistair had his guards escort me back to my room, locking me inside as if I were a prisoner. My mind raced, my heart heavy with fear and guilt. Alistair's threat against Dante felt like a blade hovering over me, ready to strike at any moment.

But I couldn't just sit here and do nothing. I paced the room, searching for any way to contact Dante, to warn him. My wrist throbbed where the bond mark lay hidden under my sleeve, as if it sensed my desperation.

Finally, I heard a faint knock on the wall. I froze, holding my breath. The knock came again, and I recognized the rhythm, Dante's signal.

I rushed to the small window, pressing my ear against it. "Dante?" I whispered, hoping he could hear me.

"Leona," his voice was barely audible, but it sent a wave of relief through me. "Are you alright?"

"For now," I replied. "But Alistair... he's threatened you. He said he'll make you suffer if I keep fighting the bond."

There was a pause, and I could almost feel Dante's frustration and anger on the other side. "I knew he'd pull something like this," he muttered. "But don't let his threats scare you. Alistair thrives on fear. If you give in, he wins."

I bit my lip, my mind racing. "But I can't let him hurt you, Dante. Not because of me."

"You're not responsible for his actions, Leona. We're in this together, remember? I chose to help you because I believe you deserve freedom. Don't let him use me as a weapon against you."

His words gave me strength, a spark of hope. I wasn't alone in this fight. I had Dante, and he was willing to stand by me, no matter the cost.

"I won't give up," I whispered, feeling a surge of determination. "We'll find a way to break the bond. Together."
