"I can't wait to see you, i can't believe we have let it get to 4 months!". I messaged my best friend. I previously lived on the outskirts of London, but I had moved out of London 2 years ago and had let work engulf my life. I needed to let my hair down and just spend some time with my friends.

"I've booked us and the girls a brunch near spittalfields. See you at 3?" she replied. I hadn't ventured into London for a little while so was planning on going up earlier and wandering around the vintage clothing markets in Brick Lane first, before strolling towards Spitalfields to meet them when they arrived.

I had been in a rut for a while and lost my sense of style. I settled for a plain black outfit with tights and boots and threw on my favourite vintage cardigan for a small pop of colour. Not my best work, but I barely made time for self care anymore. My nails hadn't been done, my hair could really do with a touch up and I was constantly tired. I needed some excitement in my life to get me back to the person I once was.

Brick Lane was just as vibrant as it always had been. Graffiti covering the walls, food markets, clothing shops, art galleries. I spent many weekends here when I was in uni studying fine art. I even had an exhibition in one of these galleries. All a distant memory from the office job I now have. Sometimes I felt like I just needed some artistic inspiration and this was the perfect place to remind myself of who I was.

I walked down the stairs of the best vintage market in Brick Lane into the hustle and bustle of chaos it always was. It was so popular you always needed to squeeze your way past everyone in the main walkway. I found myself at a stool with so many bright colours it overwhelmed me. A contrast to the black I was wearing. I felt out of place here for the first time in my life and stumbled back to take it all in.

As I did so , I suddenly found myself face down on the floor with my skirt no longer covering my butt cheeks. HOW EMBARRASSING! I must have tripped on something and lost my balance and now everyone in this shop has seen more of me that I was willing to show today.

I quickly sat up and pulled my skirt down. Wanting the world to swallow me whole. I clenched my eyes together not ready to face the embarrassment. I felt trickling down my leg and realised my knee was bleeding and my tights were ripped. I can't go to brunch looking like this.

Suddenly, I heard a soft voice. It sounded northern. Not like the cockney Essex accents I had become accustomed to. "Are you okay? You took a pretty nasty fall". He said. Oh God! I don't want to open my eyes! Just don't make eye contact! "Uh, yes. My legs hurts a bit, but I just need a minute to sit here" I said whilst staring down at my bloody leg. "Here, use this to hold on your leg. I That should help for the moment". There was something calming and mesmerising about his voice. But.. it seemed familiar.

I took the rag from the outstretched hand. Did he have his nails painted? I scanned my eyes from his shoes, up his baggy trousers, oversized jumper and locked eyes with him. He was... Georgeous! The most captivating blue eyes, nose piercings, beanie hat with his blonde locks poking out from under it. OH SHIT! IT CAN'T BE!

I knew I recognised his voice from somewhere and now I have seen his face, I knew exactly who had just witnessed me face plant the floor. And he has just seen my butt. I'm never going to live this down.

He extended his hand once more and pulled me to my feet. I felt my face go red. This is not how I imagined meeting my crush. "Hi, I'm James" he introduced himself. I knew exactly who he was. James Sharp from the Sharp Twins and the boy band Dear Alice. "I - I'm Georgia". The words hesitantly left my lips. "We best get you cleaned up." He looked concerned. "I'm fine, honestly" I said still blushing.

He raised an eyebrow, quizing me with his eyes. I was on the verge of tears but I didn't want to let him see the pain I was actually feeling, both physically and emotionally. "Do you live close by" he said. "No, a good hour or more on the train". I answered, defeated. "Look, I have a room I'm staying in not too far from here. Nothing weird, but you can clean your leg up at least if you want to come with me".

My mum always told me not to go to anyone's place that I just met. But this was James Sharp! I am way past playing it cool. I can see he is pitying me. "Um, only if it's okay?" I mumbled. "Of course" he said with a gentle grin on his face.

Could this really be happening?! I had a crush on him for a while, but never thought I would ever have the privilege of meeting him. I am a bit older than he is but I loved his funny personality and style if had seen online that drew me in. He was exactly what I always imagined being my type. He was fashionable but mysterious and extremely talented. I was always intrigued and I wanted to know more about him other than what you see on tiktok or on TV.

"I assume you haven't got any spare clothes" he said. "No, and I think these tights are ready for the bin" I replied. "Well at least we are in a clothing market. You go sit on the steps by the exit and I will grab you something to wear quickly". He instructed. I nodded and did as he said, fighting my way back through the crowd to the exit.

I had been sat there for 10 minutes when James came through the crowd with some bags in hand. I heard a group of girls let out a shreik, which alerted my attention as they screamed James' name and bombarded him for pictures. A few snaps and smiles later and the girls watching him walk away clutching their phones tightly, he approached me on the stairs. "I'm not sure if these are any good, but we can give them a try on back at the room". He smiled. Once again he held out his hand for me to pull me up. But - his hand lingered there for a second while he stared at me. Then a quick look down as he released my hand and cleared his throat. "Follow me".
