The evening air was cool, a crisp breeze blowing through the trees surrounding the vacation lodge. The group had settled into a more relaxed rhythm, and while everyone had taken to their corners to enjoy the tranquility, Peter couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off. His suspicions about Morgan and Harley lingered in the back of his mind, growing louder with every passing moment.
Peter had spent most of the day trying to ignore it, but as he watched Harley laugh with Morgan across the room, the feeling only intensified. He had been close with Harley for years, and he trusted him—more than anyone else. But something in the way Harley looked at Morgan, the way his smile was a little too bright when he spoke to her, nagged at him.
It wasn’t until later that night, after the rest of the group had settled down to watch a movie, that Peter decided to confront him.
He found Harley standing alone on the porch, staring up at the sky with a contemplative look on his face. Peter approached quietly, taking a deep breath before speaking.
“Hey, Harley.”
Harley turned, offering Peter a friendly smile. “Hey, what’s up?”
Peter crossed his arms, taking a deep breath before cutting straight to the point. “So, I’ve been noticing something for a while now...”
Harley raised an eyebrow, sensing where this conversation might be heading. “What do you mean?”
Peter hesitated for a moment, his eyes narrowing as he looked at Harley. “I know you’ve got feelings for Morgan.”
Harley blinked, caught off guard. “What?” He let out a nervous laugh, but it was clear he wasn’t fooling Peter. “Nah, you’ve got it wrong, Pete.”
“I don’t think I do,” Peter said, his voice calm but firm. “I’ve seen the way you look at her, the way you act around her. Don’t try to hide it. I can tell.”
Harley shifted uncomfortably, rubbing the back of his neck. “Okay, fine. I do like her... a lot. But it’s not like that’s something I planned. It just... happened.”
Peter’s expression softened slightly, his mind racing with a mix of surprise and protectiveness. “You’re not gonna hurt her, right? I mean, she’s my twin sister, Harley. You know I’ve got her back.”
“I would never hurt her, Pete,” Harley said earnestly, meeting Peter’s gaze. “I care about her too much.”
Peter didn’t respond immediately, taking a step back as he processed Harley’s words. He trusted him, but there was still a lingering part of him that wanted to be sure. “I’m just making sure, man. You know how protective I am of her.”
Harley nodded, understanding the unspoken bond between them. “I get it. I’d be the same way if I were in your shoes.”
Peter stood silently for a moment before nodding. “Alright. I just wanted to hear it from you.”
Harley offered him a small smile. “You know you can always talk to me, Pete. But... if you’re gonna tell anyone, maybe it should be Morgan herself.”
Peter considered this for a moment, then nodded. “Yeah... I think you’re right.”
After a few seconds of silence, Peter turned on his heel and walked back into the lodge. He couldn’t shake the feeling that he had just uncovered something deeper—something that needed to be addressed, but how?
Later that night, Peter found Steve sitting alone by the fireplace, a mug of coffee in hand. The older man looked up as Peter approached, offering a warm, welcoming smile.
“Hey, kid. Everything okay?”
Peter took a deep breath, deciding it was time to talk to his Pops. “I think I figured something out... about Morgan and Harley.”
Steve raised an eyebrow, his gaze sharpening as he set his coffee down. “What about them?”
Peter sat down next to him, leaning forward with his hands on his knees. “Harley... he has feelings for Morgan. And I think it’s serious.” He paused, watching Steve’s expression closely. “I confronted him about it just now. He admitted it.”
Steve leaned back, a thoughtful expression crossing his face. “I’ve been wondering about that for a while now.” He sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Morgan came to me a couple of days ago, actually. She... she wanted to talk.”
Peter’s eyes widened. “What did she say?”
Steve took a deep breath, choosing his words carefully. “She told me she had feelings for someone... someone who’s close to her. And she was scared to admit it, because she wasn’t sure how he felt.” Steve’s gaze softened as he looked at Peter. “I think she was talking about Harley.”
Peter blinked, his mind reeling. “So... they both like each other?”
Steve nodded slowly. “It seems that way. But they’re both too afraid to be honest with each other about it.”
Peter sat back, processing everything. “So what do we do about it?”
Steve’s eyes twinkled with a hint of mischief. “Well, that’s where you and I come in. We need to help them figure it out. But we need to be subtle about it. I don’t want to push them too hard.”
Peter grinned. “You’re thinking what I’m thinking, right?”
Steve smiled back, a knowing look in his eyes. “Exactly. We’ll give them a little nudge in the right direction. But we can’t let them know we’re involved. It has to come from them, not us.”
Peter chuckled, leaning back in his seat. “I guess we’ve got a mission then, huh?”
“Looks like it,” Steve said with a wink. “Let’s make sure those two finally admit how they feel.”

The next few days passed by quietly, but there was a certain tension in the air that hadn’t been there before. Peter, Steve, and Tony all kept a close eye on Morgan and Harley, looking for any signs that the two were about to confess their feelings to each other.
Peter had his suspicions confirmed when he saw them both lingering near the porch one evening, sharing a quiet conversation. They were close—closer than they had been before, and Peter could see the unspoken words between them.
“Do you think they’ll figure it out soon?” Peter asked Steve, who was standing just behind him.
“I think they will,” Steve replied quietly, his voice full of hope. “They just need the right push.”
Peter smiled to himself. It felt good knowing that things were slowly falling into place—his twin sister and his best friend, finally being honest with themselves about what they felt.
All he had to do now was make sure they didn’t get in their own way.
