It was a crisp afternoon in Stark Tower, and Peter and MJ sat nervously on the couch in the living room. The news had been shared with their immediate family—Tony, Steve, Morgan, and Harley—but now it was time to tell the rest of their extended family, the Avengers, and a few close friends. Peter could feel the weight of the moment hanging in the air. This wasn’t just about telling them that MJ was pregnant; it was about explaining how their lives were about to change forever.
MJ squeezed Peter’s hand, giving him a reassuring smile. “We can do this. We’re a team.”
Peter nodded, though his stomach was a mess of nerves. He was grateful for MJ’s strength. “Yeah, we are.”
They had decided to break the news during a casual get-together with the team. All the Avengers were gathered in the Tower—everyone from the OG Six to Wanda, Pietro, Vision, Doctor Strange, T’Challa, Shuri, and the Guardians of the Galaxy. It was the perfect opportunity to share the big news.
---
It wasn’t long before everyone started trickling in, chatting amongst themselves, laughing, and relaxing after their most recent missions. Peter and MJ stayed quiet, sitting together in the corner, waiting for the right moment.
When everyone had gathered in the living room, Tony walked in, scanning the room. He shot Peter a quick wink from across the room before turning his attention to the others. “Alright, everyone, gather round. We’ve got some important news to share.”
Everyone turned to face Peter and MJ, who both stood up now, trying their best to look calm, even though the butterflies in Peter’s stomach were doing the opposite.
Peter cleared his throat, and MJ stepped forward, taking his hand. "We wanted to tell you all something," she started, her voice trembling slightly. "Peter and I... we’re expecting a baby."
The room fell silent, and then a collective gasp spread across the group. For a few moments, no one spoke. Then, slowly, the realization started to settle in.
Wanda smiled brightly, walking over to them. “Congratulations! I’m so happy for you both!”
Pietro smirked, his usual sarcastic expression softened with surprise. “Didn’t see that one coming. But I guess you’ll both make amazing parents.”
T’Challa and Shuri exchanged knowing glances, both grinning. “It’s a blessing,” T’Challa said, his voice steady and filled with warmth. “You two are going to be incredible.”
Doctor Strange gave a small nod, as if he had seen this coming in some cosmic way, but he didn't comment further, his focus instead on MJ’s health. “How’s MJ feeling?” he asked, his voice filled with concern.
Peter squeezed MJ’s hand tightly. “She’s doing okay, but she’s still processing everything. It’s a lot for both of us.”
The Guardians of the Galaxy were the next to react. Rocket let out a playful snort. “You two having a kid? Well, I didn’t see that coming. But I guess a baby Stark isn’t the worst thing that could happen.”
Groot, ever the silent supporter, gave his usual “I am Groot,” but the look in his eyes showed he was happy for them.
Nebula crossed her arms but gave a small, almost imperceptible smile. “It’s a good thing. A new generation of heroes.”
Drax looked confused. “A baby? But... you’re too young. Babies are a lot of work.”
Peter chuckled nervously. “I know, Drax. We know.”
Then, Wade and Ned—who had been standing in the corner, whispering to each other—suddenly blurted out in unison: “That’s awesome! You’re gonna be a great dad, Pete!”
Peter laughed, feeling a little more at ease. He glanced over at MJ, whose smile was finally starting to shine through the nervousness. The team was accepting, and this made everything feel a little less daunting.
---
As the group celebrated, sharing laughs and congratulatory words, Tony suddenly clapped his hands together, drawing everyone’s attention. “Alright, that’s all well and good, but there’s something we need to take care of,” he said, giving Peter a pointed look.
Peter raised an eyebrow. “What’s that?”
Tony turned to the group. “Because of MJ’s pregnancy and the safety of our family, I’ve made an executive decision.”
MJ’s eyes widened. “What decision?”
Tony pulled out his phone, swiping through it quickly before hitting a button. “I’ve already called your college, MJ. You’ll be dropping out for now.”
There was an immediate outcry from some members of the group. “Tony, you can’t do that!” Steve interjected, his tone a little sharper than usual.
But Tony just waved his hand dismissively. “Oh, I absolutely can. You’re not going back to college until the baby’s born, MJ. And no arguing about it.”
MJ blinked in surprise. “You... called my college?”
Tony nodded. “Yep. Told them you’d be on leave until the baby’s born. You’re staying here, in Stark Tower, where I can keep an eye on you.”
Peter’s jaw dropped. “Dad, you can’t just do that! MJ’s a grown woman!”
“I know, son,” Tony said with a soft smirk. “But she’s also carrying my future grandchild. And I’ll be damned if I let something happen to her on my watch.”
Steve let out a deep sigh. “Tony, I understand, but—”
Tony cut him off. “I’m not asking for your approval, Steve. It’s already done. Her safety’s my priority.”
MJ was still processing everything. “Tony, I’m not a child. I can make my own decisions.”
“I know that, sweetheart,” Tony said gently. “But this isn’t about your decision-making. It’s about your health and safety. And the baby’s. So you’re staying here until you give birth. End of discussion.”
MJ looked over at Peter, who was both concerned and slightly amused by his father's overprotectiveness. “I guess we’re staying here, then.”
Peter nodded, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. “I guess so.”
---
Later, after everyone had left and things began to settle down, Peter and MJ sat down together, reflecting on everything that had just happened.
“I can’t believe how fast things are changing,” MJ said, her voice soft. “First, a prank, and now... this.”
Peter laughed lightly. “Yeah, it feels like everything’s happening all at once. But we’ll handle it. Together.”
MJ smiled and leaned against him. “Together. Always.”
They sat in silence for a while, the weight of everything sinking in. Peter knew that life as they knew it was going to change forever, but in that moment, he felt ready. With MJ by his side, and with their family supporting them, they could face whatever the future held.
And as the day came to a close, one thing was certain: this was just the beginning of their new adventure—one filled with love, surprises, and a whole lot of growing up.
