A Dangerous Mistake

It was a quiet morning at Stark Tower. The sun was just starting to peek through the windows, casting a soft glow across the sleek, high-tech interior. The Avengers, along with Morgan, Harley, and Peter, had all left for various missions, leaving Tony alone at the Tower with only one person on his mind—MJ.

Tony stood in the living room, pacing back and forth. He’d insisted to everyone that he couldn’t stay behind, but the truth was, he didn’t want to leave MJ alone, especially with the baby on the way. There was a palpable sense of unease gnawing at him. His protective instincts were working overtime, and even though MJ insisted that she was fine, Tony just couldn’t shake the feeling that something might go wrong.

But there were things he needed to attend to—projects in the lab that required his attention, emergency communications with SHIELD, and constant monitoring of potential threats.

"I’ll only be gone for a few hours," Tony muttered to himself, trying to calm his nerves. He glanced over at MJ, who was curled up on the couch, reading through some books about pregnancy. "I’ll be back before you know it. Promise."

MJ smiled softly, reassuring him. "I’ll be fine, Tony. Really. Go, do your thing. I’ll be right here."

With one last lingering look, Tony reluctantly left, heading to the lab.

---

Hours later, Tony’s decision to leave would come back to haunt him.

Across the city, hidden in the shadows, a group of Tony’s most dangerous enemies had gotten word that MJ, his pregnant daughter-in-law, was alone in the Tower. They had been watching the Stark family for weeks, waiting for the perfect opportunity. And today, with most of the Avengers out, they saw their opening.

They knew Tony would never let anyone harm his family—especially MJ—and if they could take her, they could make Tony suffer. He would beg, plead, and do whatever they wanted, just to get her back. It was a foolproof plan, one that they thought was going to be simple.

They broke into the Tower without making a sound, their movements swift and calculated. They knew the layout of the building, thanks to their previous reconnaissance, and they knew exactly where MJ was.

As MJ sat peacefully on the couch, reading, she felt a cold, unnatural shift in the air—before she could react, they grabbed her. A cloth was pressed to her mouth, and the world around her began to spin as she struggled, her vision blurring. Panic set in, and she tried to scream, but her breath was stifled by the chloroform.

---

Meanwhile, in the lab, Tony was working on some new tech when he heard a faint, high-pitched sound coming from his wrist device. It was the security alarm—MJ's security alarm.

His heart skipped a beat, and his hand shot out to tap the device. "F.R.I.D.A.Y., what’s going on? Why is the alarm triggered?"

F.R.I.D.A.Y.'s voice came through, calm but tense. "Sir, it appears that an unauthorized entry has occurred within the Tower. The security protocols are being bypassed. The area where Mrs. Stark is located is under immediate threat."

Tony’s heart dropped. No. He sprinted out of the lab, his mind already racing. “Where is she? Where is MJ?”

“Tracking her now,” F.R.I.D.A.Y. responded. “I’ve been unable to locate her exact position, but the security breach is substantial. I recommend immediate action.”

Tony’s mind was racing. He knew what this meant. Someone had gotten to her—his worst fears were becoming a reality.

---

Peter was in the middle of a meeting with the other Avengers when he felt his phone buzz. He glanced down, his stomach turning as he saw an emergency alert from F.R.I.D.A.Y. flashing across the screen. The message was brief:

“Security breach detected at Stark Tower. MJ in danger.”

His breath hitched in his throat as he immediately stood up, sending a panicked look around the room. "We need to get back to the Tower. Something’s happened to MJ."

Wade, standing nearby, shot him a worried look. "What’s going on?"

Peter barely registered the question as he rushed toward the exit. "Someone took her. We need to move, now."

---

Back at Stark Tower, Tony was now in full panic mode, dashing through the hallways with his heart pounding in his chest. He reached the control center and began activating the security systems, trying to track MJ’s location.

“Where is she, F.R.I.D.A.Y.?!” Tony shouted, his voice cracking.

“Unfortunately, sir, their signal is scrambled. I cannot pinpoint her exact location.”

Tony cursed under his breath. “Keep trying. I’m not leaving here without her.”

His mind raced. Whoever had done this knew exactly how to cripple him. And now, MJ was the pawn in their game.

---

Peter, Steve, and the rest of the Avengers returned to Stark Tower as quickly as possible, their vehicles screeching to a halt in front of the building. The others were already on their way, but Peter didn’t wait. He bolted through the door, heading for the stairs with Steve following closely behind.

F.R.I.D.A.Y.’s voice echoed in their comms. “MJ’s last known location was in the living room, but I can’t track her anymore. Her signal has been cut off.”

Peter’s breath caught in his throat. “They took her,” he whispered, his voice tight with fear.

The Avengers began scrambling through the Tower, their hearts racing as they searched for any sign of MJ. They all knew Tony would never forgive himself if anything happened to her—and neither would Peter.

As the minutes stretched on, the feeling of dread grew heavier.

Tony slammed his fist against the control panel in frustration. “Where the hell are you, MJ? I swear to God, I’m coming for you.”

---

Finally, after what felt like hours, Tony received a call from the one person he never wanted to hear from.

The voice on the other end was cold, malicious. "Tony Stark. You’ve been a thorn in our side for far too long. If you ever want to see your precious daughter-in-law again, you’ll come to the old warehouse by the docks. Come alone, or we’ll make sure she doesn’t make it out of there."

The line went dead.

Tony’s blood ran cold. They had her.

Without thinking, he grabbed his gear and started heading toward the exit. “I’m going to get her,” he growled, his voice dripping with fury.

Steve caught up with him, grabbing his arm. “Tony, don’t do anything stupid. We’re going with you. You’re not going alone.”

But Tony was already out the door, his determination stronger than ever. His family had been torn apart before. He wasn’t about to let that happen again.

---

Peter and the Avengers weren’t far behind. They knew where Tony was headed, and they had no intention of letting him go alone.

The rescue mission was about to begin—but the road ahead was going to be anything but easy.
